After a long conversation last night about vegetables that aren't really vegetables (like cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and others that are in fact fruits), I decided to use the only thing I had in my fridge that could certainly be categorized as a vegetable.
It's unlikely my husband, who's shopping for groceries as we speak, will have anything more interesting in the bag when he comes home. He wouldn't even buy any vegetables (and certainly not fruit!) if it was up to him to make a decision about it. Maybe one or two onions now and then, to use as spice...

As I was getting in my car to leave rowing last night, one of my crew came along and gave me a cucumber. He gives me one every year from his garden, I don't know how this tradition started, very random. But anyway, he grows (giant) vegetables and takes them to shows. Someone else in the crew was presented with this onion, which apparently is actually a small one!
For information, the background of this guys mobile phone is a photo of his prize biggest leek. I do worry about my old men...

3 hours: fully weeded, compost worked in, seedlings & seeds planted, and all watered up! 2 types of tomatoes, 4 types of peppers, 2 types of beets, carrots, basil, arugula and lettuce.
