"The Van Nelle factory was built between 1925 and 1931. Its most striking feature is its huge glass façades. The building is currently a high-tech centre for design and communication that houses between 50 and 70 small and medium-sized businesses. The factory grounds still largely retain their original design. Among the most striking features are the glass aerial walkways that connect the factory buildings and the shipping office.
The factory was designed on the premise that a modern, transparent and healthy working environment in green surroundings would be good both for production and for workers' welfare.
The complex is the result of the radical application of a number of cultural and technical concepts dating from the early twentieth century. This led to a new, functional approach to architecture that enjoyed mass appeal right from the start."

update: at the meet up someone dropped my external hard drive so now i can't edit any photos. i'm going to take it to get the data taken off of it or get it fixed so i can continue to edit.

Another noted traffic loss for 2011 was the HOYER branded milk tanktainers that once operated to and from Sévaz near Estavayer-le-Lac via the SBB Cargo Express network. The late afternoon Train 50136 from Estavayer to Renens VD now only comprised vans and was recorded south of Bavois behind 11349.

Op deze luchtfoto is de grote statdsuitbreiding na 1948 duidelijk te zien. De wijk Elisabethshof wordt aangelegd. Ma Retraite heeft naar het noorden toe een grote dijk aangelegd. Morgenstond heeft achter de acherpolder van de plantage een nieuwe dijk gelegd.
De verstedelijking van het agrarische gebied met kleinlandbouwers Blauwgrond en Clevia groeien op een natuurlijke wijze steeds verder dicht. De stad Paramaribo is naar het zuiden en westen toe een stuk verder uitgebreid. Het bruist er van de welvaart!

This is one of four paintings of sunflowers dating from August and September 1888. Van Gogh intended to decorate Gauguin's room with these paintings in the so-called Yellow House that he rented in Arles in the South of France. He and Gauguin worked there together between October and December 1888.
Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo in August 1888, 'I am hard at it, painting with the enthusiasm of a Marseillais eating bouillabaisse, which won't surprise you when you know that what I'm at is the painting of some sunflowers. If I carry out this idea there will be a dozen panels. So the whole thing will be a symphony in blue and yellow. I am working at it every morning from sunrise on, for the flowers fade so quickly. I am now on the fourth picture of sunflowers. This fourth one is a bunch of 14 flowers ... it gives a singular effect.'
The dying flowers are built up with thick brushstrokes (impasto). The impasto evokes the texture of the seed-heads. Van Gogh produced a replica of this painting in January 1889, and perhaps another one later in the year. The various versions and replicas remain much debated among Van Gogh scholars.

Arrived in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) as start of the tour.
Visited the famous Cho Binh Tay market, The old post office,
some war museums in the city center including a walk around the reunification Palace.
Sidetrip from the city is a daytrip to the Cao Dai Temple and the
Cu Chi Tunnel complex
Next part of the tour is heading south to the Mekong Delta and Can-Tho, including a visit to the floating market.
From the Mekong delta the tour is heading north again, visiting coastal places Phan-Thiet, Nha-Trang and qiu-Nhon.
Hoi-an and Hue are both Unesco World Heritage sites and well worth to visit.
Passing the DMZ-zone, the scenery changes quickly.
The Phong-Nha and Tan-Coc caves are amazing.
Almost at the end of the tour, we bumped into the crazy Hanoi traffic in the old city center.
The citytour included a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum,
the Army museum and best of all ice coffee at 'Highlands Coffee'
Last part included Unesco World Heritage at Halong Bay
Stop-over in Hong-Kong on the way Home !
