I use an Einstein 640 strobe with a 22" beauty dish & diffusion sock mounted on an Elinchrom Handheld Boom Arm. I typically fire my camera off with a wireless trigger, and that in turn fires my CyberSync™ Trigger Transmitter on my Nikon D800 to fire off my strobe via a CyberSync™ Transceiver. I end up taking several exposures, both high and low, while walking around the vehicle. I'll layer the images in Photoshop and switch each layer to the 'lighten' blend mode. I have been using layer masks to remove some highlight details from the strobe reflection, but I don't always find it works all the time. 1970 Plymouth Duster, 2016 Mountain Thunder Car Show in Old Fort, North Carolina. Them Inflorescences - Ellas Inflorescencias
The flowers may be solitary or in pairs, but the most common is that they grow together in organized groups called inflorescences. Sometimes the flowers are so tight and ordered that the head can be confused with a flower, in which case we can refer to it as a pseudanto (false sunflower). The most notable case is that of plants of the family traditionally known compounds, which includes daisies and thistles. Each daisy is a flower growing together, with a very precise order on a disc or cone.

Did you know that it's Beautiful Women Month?
Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn
wrote when asked to share her "beauty tips." It was read at her funeral years later.
For attractive lips , speak words of kindness..
For lovely eyes, seek
out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the
hungry.
For beautiful hair , let a child run his/her fingers through it once a
day.
For poise , walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone..
People,
even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed,
and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a
helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older,
you will discover that you have two hands ; one for helping yourself, and the
other for helping others.
! If you share this with another woman, something good will happen . . ..
You will boost another woman's self esteem, and she will know that you care about her
And thank you so much Marie-Christine

I used to regularly call into this canal yard as part of my work. It is no longer used and the site is to be re-developed for housing.
I often walk past it, as I did on this lovely warm and sunny day in good company.

Zarko Hydraxon used to be a proud member of the devious Aquasharks. However, his methods of acquiring Hydrolator crystals were too ruthless even for his fellow Aquasharks, so they banished him from their group. Since Aquasharks aren't very popular in the Aquazone, none of the other factions wanted to take him in, so Zarko decided to leave the Aquazone to forge his own path by becoming a bounty hunter. Now traversing the tropical oceans and calling himself Lone Shark, he will work for anyone who is willing to pay in Hydrolator crystals. He built himself a fearsome custom speeder bike to hunt down his bounty. Like the Aquashark subs, it is shaped like a big black shark to strike terror into the hearts of his prey and is equipped with harpoon launchers, robot arms, and a fishing net to capture his bounty. It is amphibious, so it can either hover over the water or dive underwater. It also has a sonar compass on the dashboard for tracking down bounties. All this along with his trusty harpoon gun and knives make him one of the most dangerous bounty hunters around!

Early morning light is one of the most powerful tools in photography.
Soft sunlight not only reveals texture and delicate details, but it also allows the subject to separate naturally from its surroundings.
In macro photography, even moving the camera a few centimetres can completely transform the background. A distracting element may suddenly dissolve into a smooth wash of colour and light, creating the kind of bokeh that gives a photograph its atmosphere.
For me, the background is never just a backdrop.
It becomes a silent storyteller, supporting the subject without overwhelming it. When the balance is right, the subject appears to breathe within the frame.
During the last few weeks I spent several early mornings searching for snowdrops and small woodland details. Sometimes the wind was too strong, sometimes the light arrived too late, and sometimes patience was the only reward. On this particular morning I stayed in the field for nearly two and a half hours and returned home with only three photographs.
But in nature photography the number of images rarely matters. What matters is the quiet moment when light, composition and patience finally meet.
These small scenes – a snowdrop illuminated by the first sunlight, a tiny ladybird exploring the moss, and a single red capsule rising from the green forest floor – remind me how rich and intricate the miniature world of nature can be.
After several attempts this photograph marks the closing image of my snowdrop series for this season.
Next year, when early spring returns again, the search and the quiet waiting will begin once more.
“When the snowdrops return next spring, the flowers may look the same — but the photographer will see them with deeper experience and quieter patience.”
The 7-Spotted Ladybug (Coccinella septempunctata) in Britain
Distribution:
The 7-spotted ladybug is one of the most common and widespread ladybird species in the UK. It can be found across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, inhabiting a variety of environments including gardens, parks, woodlands, farmland, and grasslands.
Ecological Role:
This species is a crucial natural predator in biological pest control. It primarily feeds on aphids and other small insect pests, helping to reduce the need for chemical pesticides and maintaining the balance of ecosystems.
Seasonal Activity:
Spring – Summer: Becomes active from late March as temperatures rise, entering its peak breeding season during the summer months.
Autumn – Winter: As temperatures drop, individuals seek shelter under tree bark, stones, and leaf litter to hibernate (diapause) through the colder months.
Climate Change & Competition:
In recent years, the spread of invasive species such as the Harlequin Ladybird (Harmonia axyridis) has posed a threat to native populations. While the 7-spotted ladybug remains abundant, competition for food and habitat has led to a decline in certain areas.
Cultural Significance:
In British folklore, ladybugs are often considered symbols of good luck. Gardeners also value them as "nature’s pest controllers", playing a vital role in organic and sustainable gardening.
I've captured some unforgettable moments with my camera, and I hope you feel the same joy viewing these images as I did while creating them.
