Using the new 'Destination Anywhere' kit xxx

The present sanctuary was dedicated in 1887 after being located in four other locations around downtown Macon. The Sanctuary contains many interested Christian symbols to enhance our worship. Among them: the presence of the trefoil (a symbol of the Trinity); the presence of the quatrefoil (a traditional Christian symbol of 4 overlapping circles); a beautiful stained-glass rose window; and 12 beautiful stained-glass windows depicting the life of Jesus. Also of architectural note, the inside of the sanctuary roof is shaped like an upside-down ship’s hull, using the traditional Christian symbol of a boat to reflect that safety and sanctuary can be found in this holy space.

Beneath the sanctuary is the Great Room, a smaller gathering place and home to the Faithful Followers Sunday School Department. It was christened “The Great Room” in 2004, after a renovation, in appreciation of “The Greatest Generation,” the older members of FBCX who given their time, resources, and talents through the years to make First Baptist a place of worship, discipleship, missions and fellowship.

At first glance, the galaxy NGC 4151 looks like an average spiral. Examine its center more closely, though, and you can spot a bright smudge that stands out from the softer glow around it. That point of light marks the location of a supermassive black hole weighing about 40 million times as much as our Sun.

Astronomers will use NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to measure that black hole’s mass. The result might seem like a piece of trivia, but its mass determines how a black hole feeds and affects the surrounding galaxy. And since most galaxies contain a supermassive black hole, learning about this nearby galaxy will improve our understanding of many galaxies across the cosmos.

Splasers used to be my favorite BrickArms weapon. They're awesome. I've obtained a lot.

- Check notes

- Close-up photo of one of the splasers coming up

- all the ones with the little poles sticking out the barrel is from not sticking a piece in the mold so that it stays empty.

Thanks to Will, and anyone else who gave me / traded me these.

Fun Fact: While at the workshop, I almost screwed Will's splaser mold..

Green used to be the only color the Bank Of America Plaza (aka the green building) could light up. Some time in 2013, the gas-based light tubes were upgraded to led lights, giving the building a new ability to light up in different colors.

I don't know the reason behind the red color tonight, but it's a nice change to the skyline.

Please use red/cyan anaglyph goggles, for anaglyph glasses ask your local optician.

Diwan-i-Khas: the Diwan-i-Khas, or Hall of Private Audience, is a plain square building with four chhatris on the roof. However it is famous for its central pillar, which has a square base and an octagonal shaft, both carved with bands of geometric and floral designs, further its thirty-six serpentine brackets support a circular platform for Akbar, which is connected to each corner of the building on the first floor, by four stone walkways. It is here that Akbar had representatives of different religions discuss their faiths and gave private audience.

Used several apps to complete this piece! Thanks for looking!

The use of the definite article in the title is quite intentional. The image could as easily been The Only Hollyhock, since it's the sole example of this old-fashioned summer flower for many miles around. That's because as hospitable as the Pacific Northwest's climate is for a vast array of plants, hollyhocks just don't thrive west of the Cascade mountains. It's probably not hot or dry enough, though with climate change the hollyhock could well expand its territory to this corner of the map.

Not only is this pale pink beauty flourishing in its bed with an ideal southwestern exposure, it actually overwintered there.

I think this layering technique is cool, so I was wondering what you guys would think about it. If people want me to I will use this on my next dio.

Thanks and God Bless,

-Brian

Tramonto dell'innocenza

L'Innocenza.....

I used to visit Rapid City nearly every summer from the late 70's through the early 90'sand most often was able to work some railroad action into what was a family vacation built around the Black Hills. The CNW was fairly cooperative running towards Belle Fourche in the morning and returning in the late afternoon so I was able to shoot the morning job, do tourist stuff most of the day and return to Rapid and shoot the late afternoon eastbound. With the long summer days this worked out well but I doubt that the "schedule" was conducive to photography during the later fall/winter/early spring. In any case on a 2 train a day railroad you take what you can get and this eastbound was not lit well as it dawdled into town much later than "normal" near sunset. Way short of the usual amount of power found on this line 4308, 6602 and 6621 have 71 cars in tow on May 23, 1985.

This is only a small plant, but on the windowsill in my kitchen, it seems to thrive in the Northern light, these beauties here seem to fight for the light.

Cyclamen are native to the Mediterranean region from Spain east to Iran, and also in northeast Africa South to Somalia.

The name Cyclamen is presumed to come from Greek 'kyclos', a circle referring to the round tubers, or leaves.

Lovely inverted flowers rise out of fantastically patterned rounded or heart-shaped leaves.

Some of the patterns, particularly the silver leaved varieties are exquisite and can truly be described as a wonder of nature.

From the family Primulaceae, they come in beautiful colours from white, pink, purple, red and combinations of these.

Cyclamen like the cool; the smaller the leaves, the cooler they can stand it.

The tubers are regarded as the favourite food for pigs in the South of France, Sicily and Italy, hence a rather uncommon common name Sowbread.

Cyclamen are poisonous; they have been used medicinally as a powerful purgative, but their toxicity makes this risky.

Have a glorious day and thank you, M, (*_*)

Quelle Wikipedia

Flax (also known as common flax or linseed), with the binomial name Linum usitatissimum, is a member of the genus Linum in the family Linaceae. It is a food and fiber crop that is grown in cooler regions of the world. The textiles made from flax are known in the West as linen, and traditionally used for bed sheets, underclothes and table linen. The oil is known as linseed oil. In addition to referring to the plant itself, the word "flax" may refer to the unspun fibers of the flax plant. The plant species is known only as a cultivated plant, and appears to have been domesticated just once from the wild species Linum bienne, called pale flax.
