……A metal pot used as a plant pot holder in the garden - probably modern but made to look old? We bought it in a reclaim/antique shop in Mullion in Cornwall a few years ago and as it has a nice bit of rust that fitted the theme for Macro Monday nicely I thought. Always a ponder how to get the best comp' to include most if not all the subject in the frame whilst staying in focus! I did my best!! HMM & have a great week, Alan:-)

Interior from Garmo stave church at Maihaugen in Lillehammer, Norway. The baptismal font is made from soapstone and dates to the 12th century.

This stave church originally dates to the middle of the 12th century - later expanded in the 18th century. In the 19th century the church was replaced with a newly built on in Garmo and this one was dismantled and sold at auction(!) in 1880. It was bought by Trond Eklestuen, who spent much time buying traditional Norwegian objects (and buildings) and giving them away to museums for preservation. The church ended up at Maihaugen (the largest open-air museum in northern Europe, founded in 1904), a place dedicated to the preservation of Norwegian history and architecture. The church was rebuilt there in 1921.

Using my "Butterfly-molecule", (on a different oriented grid), to create these stars, called 'Duet 4', but now using colored paper with a motif. It is always a surprise to see how it looks like when it is finished.

Here you can see the glassine version 'Duet 4'.

This picture is a render I did some 5 years ago using Poser software. I think that I managed not only to capture a good likeness of her face but also her figure. I used 3 point lighting. The shadows accentuate the curves of her figure. : )

Early Happy Caturday!

Cheetahs are caring, affectionate and dedicated mothers. They spend a long time caring for their cubs. Cubs typically stay with their mothers for one and a half to two years.

The cheetah originated over 4 million years ago. That’s long before any of the other big cats of today. They used to be found in North America when they crossed the Bering land bridge from Asia to the Americas before becoming extinct.

The cheetah is the fastest land animal in the world, reaching speeds of up to 113km/h. They can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3 seconds. When running, cheetahs use their tail to steer, like a rudder for a boat.Cheetahs are the only large cat that can turn in mid-air while sprinting.

Cheetahs do not roar like lions, however they do have a range of other meaningful vocalisations such as purring, growling and a variety of contact calls which resemble bird-like chirping sounds. -Wikipedia

I was trying to take some pics of the lake waters birds when this beauty showed up. The Phoebe really loves being around water and tries to stay that way all they can.

I used a container to freeze the fern and heather, I tried water that was cooked twice but still the ice is cloudy. But I like the bubbles, the cracks happened when I poured water over the ice but I like that too.

This is about 6cm.

Happy Macro Monday.

The Maudaiae type of Paphhiopedilum, single flowered hybrid called after one of the first, and most delightful, hybrids made within this group. Their oval leaves are attractively mottled in green and gray-green, sometimes darkly peppered on the undersides, and their elegant flowers, carried proudly on tall, slender stems.

used the flickr k6 slider to remove the hint of blue background and added clarity and reduced the green color. Was trying to get a poster effect like the bird posters in the doctors office. I think looking at this and my previous post of this photo will show a big difference.

The ruin had showed up just outside the monument in town. The trees had arrived as guardians. From the day they'd arrived, she'd visited. Religiously. She didn't know what the draw was, but she felt like the ruin was there for her; beckoning her...

RUIN & MANGROVE TREES (A&C) by Color Alchemists

This ruin just makes my imagination come alive -- its decayed yet modern, it feels like it could be a relic of times to come sent back as a warning...I totally am in love with it. And these trees - so many uses for them in the ground or out. I love the roots and couldn't pass up showcasing them in this photo. <3

Experiments in infra red in the back garden. Despite the April frosts my Magnolia is doing well. I was out early on to get a shot using the Z6 without any infra red conversion just with a with an Urth I-Red 72 filter and this set up seems to to do a decent IR shot. Had the camera on a tripod with the 2nd timer on it & I'm relatively pleased with the results. It probably looks more like a black and white than an ir shot. But I think when we have more leaves and blossom etc. It will work fine. I've tried IR filters on other lenses and cameras and I end up with hot spots so this seems a good combo. Hope you enjoy.

I used the Yongnuo 35mm F2 via a 30€ adapter.

Although it supports autofocus I used manual focus under this lighting conditions.

Not a bad result for a 80€ lens:-)

The edges are noticeable soft.

“Use the Random Point Generator to pick the exact location where you make a photograph.”

The RPG kept putting me in the middle of a farmers field, or the middle of Beverly swamp...finally I picked this one that looked like it might be a road at least. Well it was for a while, but the road ended & I still hadn't reached my coordinates, so I parked and continued on foot.

With compass & camera in hand & killer dog by my side for protection ;) (yorky-poo)

We continued our journey within a labyrinth of trails to our final destination.

What an amazing place to have discovered !!

I loved every minute of it...the sounds of nature...warm summer breeze rustling the leaves, the birds singing & branches cracking under foot...

We'll definitely go back again :)))

Today's sunset at Lake Tahoe was exceptional. It was raining in the south, and there where beautiful clouds in the north. I took this shot a few miles south of Incline Village on the East side of the lake 15 minutes after sunset.

I used an ND filter and f8 for a 30 sec exposure to smoothen out the waves. The ND filter gives the scene s slight pink tone. I processed a balanced HDR photo from a single RAW exposure.
