Unknown location. This looks like the terrain around the Donner Lake overlook on old U.S. 40, but I'm not certain. Possibly taken on my parents' honeymoon.

This rather ancient picture is derived from the photo collection of the Hartveld/Van der Groef-family from Oxnard , California , USA .
Both Pieter Hartveld and Anna van der Groef were born and raised in the Netherlands on the former island of Goeree-Overflakkee , and both Pieter and Anna emigrated in the early years of the previous century to the USA - they married in Paterson , N.J. , but settled down in Oxnard , California .

We saw Tim Collom's art at his midtown gallery in Sacramento during a Second Saturday walk. We weren't planning on buying a painting, but we loved his colors and style. The painting we saw reminded us of when we lived in Redondo Beach years ago. That painting had already been sold, but Tim painted another one for us. It reminds us of the vibrant colors, sunshine, and eclectic community of a beach town. Tim has become a famous local artist and we're happy to have one of his paintings. We enjoy it every day in our family room.
