Unknown / Onbekend

This rather ancient picture is derived from the photo collection of the Hartveld/Van der Groef-family from Oxnard , California , USA .

Both Pieter Hartveld and Anna van der Groef were born and raised in the Netherlands on the former island of Goeree-Overflakkee , and both Pieter and Anna emigrated in the early years of the previous century to the USA - they married in Paterson , N.J. , but settled down in Oxnard , California .

We do nót know who these three depicted men are . Did they belong to the HARTVELD-family ór to the VAN DER GROEF-family ór to the ......??

The picture was taken in Paterson , N.J. .

Could one of these portrayed men be JOHANNIS JACOBUS VAN DER GROEF , born on June 1st 1884 in Nieuwe-Tonge , Holland , who was the son of the unmarried mother JOHANNA JACOBA VAN DER GROEF , born on January 25 , 1862 , Nieuwe-Tonge , who emigrated together to the USA on June 8th 1887 ....??

Knowing that in the USA in Paterson , N.J. Johanna must have given birth to yet another child , once again being an unmarried mother , one of the other two depicted men might be her other son JACOB VAN DER GROEF , born on October 30 , 1887 .

Ór ......third possibility : might one of these three men be MATTHEUS BREUR , born on March 31 , 1876 in Nieuwe-Tonge , Holland , the only son of CORNELIA VAN DER GROEF and of DANIEL BREUR ???

Mattheus emigrated together with his mother in 1881/82 from Holland to Paterson , N.J. .
