Kacey Paukovich fights hard to win the tug of war game between the girls and guys cabin at Camp Jusdon. She attends Judson every summer and says it is what she looks forward to most.
merrick received a package today! thanks, jean and pack !! the clicker's awesome ... i'm looking forward to starting some focused work with this little weirdo.
merrick required a little guidance on how to use the tug ... his obsession is balls ... but with care and timing he figured it out. of course, this little goober gets so excited about the prospect of the ball or playing and has problems relating to you. he'd jump up to grab the tug toy but eventually went past the tug, jumping high and biting at my clothes or my hands. it's like he's frustrated and so ramped up that he just explodes.
because he's gaining confidence with me i use a firm "off!", or -- if his teeth make contact -- a quick, squealing "ow!" and then immediately continue as though nothing has happened ... otherwise he'd be shell-shocked and slinking again. i'm hoping he'll figure it out, cuz dagnabbit, he bites hard!

Canal & River Trust work boats on the Trent & Mersey Canal as it winds its way through Sandbach, Cheshire.
The Tug and Barge have just left Wheelock and are headed towards "Heartbreak Hill" and Kidsgrove. 6.2 miles with an elevation of slightly over 200 feet, there are 24 Locks between Wheelock Wharf and Red Bull Wharf, Kidsgrove.
A nice walk on a Summers day but the last time I walked this 6 mile stretch it was snowing!
Boats can leave the T & M and join the Macclesfield Canal at Kidsgrove for the "Cheshire Ring" canals cruise.

Lochearnhead Games
A Tug o' war competition is common event at a Scottish Highland Games. This a team contest consisting of either five or eight members to each team and one coach. The coach will encourage the team to pull as and when required dependant on the opposing teams actions. The coach must be very alert to keep his team fully aware of the moves intended or to just hold awaiting the correct time to make a move. The competition will commence with the command from the judge `Pick up the rope`, thereupon the two teams move back until the rope is taught and the judge inserts the marker flag opposite the central marker on the rope. The teams thump their feet into the ground for firm hold and then lean back on the rope and the judge gives the command ` Pull` whereupon the two teams then pull with all their strength. The object is to pull with nearly straight arms and legs from as low a position as possible with all members of the team in unison. The length of the pull may vary but officially should be 12 feet which is measured by two markers on the rope each six feet from the centre. When either mark passes the stick placed in the ground by the judge at the central point of the rope when starting competition, the other side has won that pull. The teams then change ends and the best of three is the winner.
These are the heads of the gods that participate in the tug-of-war against the demons to create the Churning of the Sea of Milk. These statues are situated outside the southern gate of Angkor Thom which is the gate that is in the best condition of the four gates.

The Tug PEGASUS has assisted us many times in the past two years I've been with this unit; several times while reverse lightering to ships, once bringing the barge out of dry dock in Brooklyn, and several times putting into our yard in the Gowanus. Her crew must take a lot of pride in her upkeep because her paint is always resplenent. Here she was escorting us through the dredging zones in the Kills after assisting us in getting under way from KMI Staten Island with a load.
