"Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep - Prayer PINK" by Patti Deters. A sleepy little saw-whet owl settles down for a nap on a tree branch on a winter afternoon, creating the perfect backdrop for this classic children's night-time prayer:
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Guard me Jesus through the night,
Wake me with the morning light.
Amen
The photograph has bee color-toned in shades of pink which make this perfect for a little girl's bedroom. If you like this outdoor photograph artwork, please see more (various nature-inspired images - with words and without) at patti-deters.pixels.com/featured/now-i-lay-me-down-to-sle....

It is such a delight to watch this black and white beauty!! Sits in an isolated place and if you try to go nearby flies away so far that you have to keep walking for miles :-)
It was quite cold but the warbler above my head looks well fed and warm.

Trees and sky as viewed from the edge of a wooded area in the neighborhood where my wife and I reside.
In this view the deep saffron yellow leaves of the Ginkgo are set aginst a blue sky. This tree is in northwest corner Hillsboro's Frances Street Park
Ginkgo branches grow in length by growth of shoots with regularly spaced leaves, as seen on most trees. From the axils of these leaves, "spur shoots" (also known as short shoots) develop on second-year growth. Short shoots have very short internodes (so they may grow only one or two centimeters in several years) and their leaves are usually unlobed. They are short and knobby, and are arranged regularly on the branches except on first-year growth. Because of the short internodes, leaves appear to be clustered at the tips of short shoots, and reproductive structures are formed only on them.
Ginkgo biloba, known as ginkgo, also spelled gingko[3] (both pronounced /ˈɡɪŋkoʊ/), or as the maidenhair tree,[4] is the only living species in the division Ginkgophyta, all others being extinct. It is found in fossils dating back 270 million years. Native to China,[2] the tree is widely cultivated and was introduced early to human history. It has various uses in traditional medicine and as a source of food. The genus name Ginkgo is regarded as a misspelling of the Japanese gin kyo, "silver apricot".[5] See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginkgo_biloba — at Frances Street Park Hillsboro, Oregon.
On the edge of the property where my wife and I live is a crepe myrtle. I noticed recently that the leaves for this season have started to appear.

Walking downtown in what is known as the "Cabbage Town" portion of Atlanta, I found this stub of an old tree limb that had grown around a cable holding an electrical line. It had been severed and left to hang. Although hard to count the rings from 20 feet (6+ meters) below, I would guess they've been inter-twined for several decades.

This unique beach is famous for the salt-washed skeletons of live oak, palm and cedar trees that once grew near the shore.
It was late blooming this year, but the crepe myrtle on my wife's and my property has finally started to blossom.

This past weekend, I had the chance to play with the Samsung NX300--a mirrorless camera. It was a joy to use and I did a mini review on it. This shot is one of my personal favorite from the series. I hope you like it too.

Hidden abandoned place somewhere in Wicklow hills, this old oak tree remembers the history so well, but keeps it in its memory without saying out...

Purple crepe myrtle blossoms in a neighbor's yard. The blossoms are visible from my wife's garden. I snapped this image from the side of the street.

May 22, 2020 - My wife and our dog were outside this evening. I was in the house and received a text that there was a rainbow. So I grabbed a camera and managed to capture part of the rainbow.
The male sounded kind of forlorn as he continued to quack even though the female totally ignored him.
