I missed out on the trip to the Bronx Zoo a few weeks ago because I was ill.... I got to go there yesterday though!! I had a blast!! I will probably bore you all with some of those shots for next week or so.... Sorry in advance......
Personally, I think that this is much better when Viewed On Black.
A beautiful Mississippi Kite sits on a dead tree branch, with a bug in his beak, calling to a female that is in another tree. Unfortunately, she didn't accepted his offering while I was watching.
Taken yesterday, December 10, from my window during a Nor'easter storm, that provided a bit of snow, after 2 days of rain. The ground is still too warm for the snow to accumulate, but you can see the accumulation on the parked car--and on top of the square box, which is an air-quality sensor!
(Not that it can improve air quality...)

April 25, 2022 - "Founded in 1342, the Grote Kerk in Veere was originally known as Onze Lieve Vrouw Ter Snow. It was built as a late-gothic cross-basilica, with a tower that was supposed to become 100 meters high. The building was designed by the well-known master builders Spoorwater and Keldermans. These families also built the cathedral of Mechelen, the Markiezenhof in Bergen of Zoom and the town halls of Leuven and Middelburg.
The Grote Kerk is a great symbol of the ambitions, courage and perseverance of the county of Zeeland. However, the tower was never competed and all the treasures have disappeared over the years. So an empty building remains, but it is filled with wonderful stories.
After the English and French sieges, the Grote Kerk loses its religious role. It became a military hospital, a workshop for beggars, a storage space and emergency stables for cattle during the deliberate flooding in the Second World War and during the Flood Disaster in 1953. No matter how badly damaged the church was, it continued to provide drinking water to the citizens of Veere until after the Second World War. The large roof and the ancient cistern collected the water. The church was also a secret place for the wife of the vicar to go cycling. It was even used as a covered football pitch and an amply sized market hall.
At the end of the 19 th century, the church was rescued from being demolished by Victor de Steurs. He announced this building as the very first National Monument in the Netherlands. Today the Grote Kerk is owned by Stichting Monumenten Bezit, which is part of the Dutch National Monuments Organisation. Other buildings in Zeeland that are also part of the Stichting Monumenten Bezit are: Oostkerk in Middelburg, Sint Bavo in Aardenburg, Sint Lievensmonster tower in Zierikzee and the Scottisch houses in Veere. The Grote Kerk in Veere is now a visitors' experience and a venue for art, culture and meeting new people." “One wonders…”
Just how bad and cruel does a pirate captain have to be to make his rogue criminal crew mutiny, murder him, cut off his head, and stake it on a branch on some unknown isolated island somewhere on the beach where no one will find him?
I love that so many different kinds of sparrows come here for the winter. This one has a cute little pink beak.

My wife and I experienced a beautiful New Year's Day here in Lumberton. Partly to mostly sunny, with temperatures around 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
My wife and I visited Luther Britt Park this afternoon. I snapped this picture of one of the ponds at the park.
Saturday, May 23, 2015 - A large tree branch broke without warning and blocked the street near my house. These police officers are waiting for a Public Works crew to clear the branch from the street.

It was a cold, but beautiful January day. I snapped this picture on the edge of a wooded area in the neighborhood where my wife and I reside.
As the afternoon is nearing an end, I snapped a few pictures of trees in the neighborhood where my wife and I reside.
I had been taking pictures of azaleas on the edge of the property where my wife and I live. I looked up and noticed the sun was going down behind a neighbor's dogwood tree. I snapped a few pictures from the edge of our yard.
My wife and I decided to spend some time at Luther Britt Park this afternoon. Luther Britt Park Sign at the entrance.
My wife and I have a neighbor who's crepe myrtle has started to blossom. Photo taken from the edge of our property.
My wife and I traveled to Virginia to visit family. My mother in law was staying at a farm house. On Sunday I took a walk around the farm property with a camera. Wolf Creek runs through the property. Here the creek can be seen through summer foliage.

This doe's silhouette is framed by a tree in the foreground and fog in the background. The photo is finished off with the faint colors of the pastel sunset.

A cute little fox squirrel plays peek-a-boo from behind a tree branch and pink flowers on a dark green background.
Decided to take a few pictures before heading off to work this morning. It was foggy, and just as I walked outside, the sun broke through. I was able to capture a few pictures of the fog before it lifted. The wooded area is a short walk from where my wife and I reside.
This minute gouache painting can be seen at the Swan Coach House Gallery’s LITTLE THINGS group exhibition. It runs through early January and has small artworks by over one hundred Atlanta area creative folks. There’s a distortion error in this photo. In order to square up the rectangular part of the frame I had to let the upper part of the frame shrink, particularly on the left.
This is a lifer for me. Heard it in heavy woodlands and followed the sound trying to get a shot. They tend to stay in dense cover and low to the ground. I was only able to get two shots & both were in deep shade with lots of underbrush in the way. Just enough to count for my lifer and be able to make the identification.

I have been a hobby photographer for a number of years. I started with a Fuji digital point and shoot my father in law bought for my wife and I. Through the years I bought a number of point and shoot cameras before purchasing a used DSLR a couple of years ago. Today, I decided to pull out my old HP low end point and shoot. I like to pull out one of my low end cameras from time to time. First, it reminds me of my beginnings in the hobby. Second, now that I am more used to DSLR cameras, it gives me a challenge to try and get a somewhat quality picture from a low end camera. So, here is one of the images I captured today with the old HP camera.
