I end my safari experience in Madikwe, South Africa with this unusual tree captured at sunset. Marie, my guide, just knew I would be thrilled when i saw this unusual wild creation of nature. i am sorry to say that she didn't tell me the story behind how it was created. Maybe having it be a mystery is more appropriate for such a wild thing.
in future days, I'll start adding pictures of Mozambique and when they are completed we will return to South Africa with more safari scenes.

Trees in Anastasia Park in St. Augustine. I love how the wind from the beach has affected their growth.
In 2015 Lori Mancell of Queanbeyan and her crafty crew yarn bombed the Queens Bridge in Queanbeyan and The Great Queanbeyan Stitch-up was born.
It wasn't until this year (2018) that The Great Queanbeyan Stitch-up yarn bombing fun was resurrected in order to celebrate International Yarn Bombing Day, and make Queanbeyan a player on the global yarn bombing platform.
Lori and her team of knitters, crocheters and yarn donators worked tirelessly for months on end to deliver the wraps for the beautiful big trees down the centre of Morisset Street, as well as the new trees in the recently re-designed Queen Elizabeth II Park, at the river's edge... and we think they look fantastic!
This project has certainly brought a smile to our faces and we hope the same goes for you. We have had lots of positive feedback from passersby, including comments like "This is the sort of town I want to live in!"; "They look absolutely beautiful" and "I have recently moved here and am constantly being pleasantly surprised."
I do so like to play , this is my play on this tree....
We do not quit playing because we grow old, we grow old because we quit playing.

The Sky Tree is built atop a multi level shopping and dining complex in addition to the Oshiage subway station.
At 634m it is the tallest tower in the world and the world's 2nd tallest structure.
This is the Christmas tree on Kirkfield Green, Thorner. The main street is beautifully decorated with small trees on the houses all with white lights.
Thorner is located 7 miles (11 km) to the south-west of Wetherby
The village appears in the 1086 Domesday Book as "Torneure" (also "Tornoure") means "thorn bank". The ancient parish of Thorner covered 4400 acres in the wapentake of Skyrack in the West Riding of Yorkshire
My fav tree still hangin' in there weathering the cold and snow.
The 14mm POV let me get closer to the tree while expanding the feeling of the vastness of the distant mountains across the lake as well.
I haven't been shooting in ages, have been working everyday for what seems like an age. So I am going through lots of older images and found this one of the tree at Loch Lomond in the snow..
I was standing at the foot of this exposed rock face looking up at the trees above. It looked as though someone had done a cross section through the hill. I was in Perthsire in autumn.
One of my two balcony birch trees. Makes it feel like I'm in a tree house when I'm on my deck. :)

The effects of prevailing wind on trees are more than visual. Under repeated wind stress, leaf size will decrease, and "reaction" wood forms on the leeward side of the tree. This heavily-lignified wood is exceptionally tough, and has been known to jam chainsaw blades completely. While stressor-induced adaptations in trees are well undertood, the mechanisms by which plants sense movement are not clear.
