Standing at 11,000 feet in the White Mountains of California, this bristlecone pine is more than 5,000 years old.

Shot from last year, always meant to have a go at removing the farm and telegraph poles etc.

Image for Karen and Craig's Wedding Invite, shot on Land's End Trail in San Francisco. The couple wanted a non -traditional invite, something outside and natural. We hiked through the trail, and came across this opening between two cypress trees. The two lovers leaned in and we got the shot.

A Cyanotype treatment applied in Lightroom to the mighty Roslyn oak tree. HDR 5 exposures. View On Black

In my first shot of this scene I composed a classic 'rule of thirds' image but the lone tree seemed to work better in the centre.

Thanks for looking,

Chris.

While looking after the kids (3.5 & 1.5 yo) I thought it would be managable to grab shot of this tree in the fog with the last of the light. I didn’t think it would be too much hassel with the kids in this big open field until they started swinging off the tripod, running off in different directions, sitting in mud, chasing sheep and picking up frozen maltersers that the sheep had dropped….

I stuck the big stopper on for this to enhance the vignetting but during the thirty odd seconds it takes to expose i had to keep the medaling fingers of my curious kids at bay…. Leap frog!

Jeez oh, there must be quite bit of compression of the images on flickr as i get big contour lines on the grey sky that I don't see on the original.
