Stood still it did, dreaming of glories past, present and future. It wasn't an ancient by any means but what it has seen it made up for its immobility, infecting those around it with a dreamasque purpose.
the desert is a challenge to photograph. with all those rocks and brown landscape, shots don't just leap out at you. a new life emerges when you look at it in black and white though, and suddenly it takes on a whole different beauty!
I used a 2-stop GND filter to darken the sky a bit and give more contrast to those fluffy white clouds.
A glorious beach stop on the Gulf of Mexico to break our journey towards Campeche.
It was incredibly hot here (dry heat after the humidity of Palenque) and the sand was burning to the touch! Best antidote was a nice dip in the ocean, which luckily I was prepared for.
The Bradford Pear, scientific name, Pyrus Calleryana, is an ornamental pear tree with small fruit approximately 1 cm in diameter. In North America the tree is often used in landscaping homes and businesses alike. The fruits, though popular with wildlife, are bitter and are not generally eaten by people. In recent years, it is thought the Bradford Pear has become invasive, growing in places where it was not planted. Beautiful white flowers in the Spring, and bright red leaves in the Fall make it a popular, if not problematic choice.

down town Carnie, Co Sligo - yes this field is right in the middle of the village opposite the 3 pubs and 1 shop. Also the town is called Carnie... as in "once a carnie always a carnie!" (simpsons quote)
I like the enchantment of this photograph, and the uncertainty that comes when wondering where the trees end and the water starts.
An Autumn Evening by Lucy Maud Montgomery
Dark hills against a hollow crocus sky
Scarfed with its crimson pennons, and below
The dome of sunset long, hushed valleys lie
Cradling the twilight, where the lone winds blow
And wake among the harps of leafless trees
Fantastic runes and mournful melodies.
The chilly purple air is threaded through
With silver from the rising moon afar,
And from a gulf of clear, unfathomed blue
In the southwest glimmers a great gold star
Above the darkening druid glens of fir
Where beckoning boughs and elfin voices stir.
And so I wander through the shadows still,
And look and listen with a rapt delight,
Pausing again and yet again at will
To drink the elusive beauty of the night,
Until my soul is filled, as some deep cup,
That with divine enchantment
