On July 30 1969, fifty-four years ago, I watched a black and white television transmission from the surface of our moon and heard Neil Armstrong say "Tranquility base here, the Eagle has landed."

The Umhlanga Coast is characterised by long stretches of sandy beaches that promise stunning backdrops against which to swim, surf or sunbathe. The Indian Ocean has particularly warm waters, averaging 24 to 26 degrees during the summer. The Umhlanga Coast is a magnificent stretch of the South African shoreline. It shows off the splendour and wonder of this country in a tranquil display that remains extremely powerful. This is part of KwaZulu-Natal and is very close to the city centre of Durban, which is the province’s main city and one of South Africa’s major metropolises. However, the Umhlanga Coast whisks you away from the bustle of city living and to the peaceful prettiness of the Indian Ocean as it lazily dances onto the sand.

Bandelier National Monument is a 33,677-acre (136 km2) United States National Monument near Los Alamos in Sandoval and Los Alamos counties, New Mexico. The monument preserves the homes and territory of the Ancestral Puebloans of a later era in the Southwest. Most of the pueblo structures date to two eras, dating between AD 1150 and 1600.
This is a typical peaceful rural landscape in Perth County, Ontario, where you see big wide open sky and fields and fields of green.
Horses take an evening drink from the pond as I gaze out to Thirdpart, Portencross and on over the Firth of Clyde to Arran.
The grim weather has continued for yet another weekend on the South Coast of the UK so I have trawled the hard drive to find an image to brighten up this dreary day!
I found this image of the sunset at Langstone Harbour, Hayling Island taken in October this year when we had calm conditions and colour in the sky!
1/13 second exposure using a Lee 0.9 ND grad filter.

A composite shot of around 7 image that were stitched together in Post. Not a HDR image, though I was amazed at how sharp it actually came out.
"Reflected Tranquility:" I hope you don't tire too much of this view, as I kept returning to this spot in the short time I had at Yosemite. It was probably the most peaceful and picturesque view I came across. Standing in the shade of some very tall trees and looking out at the view of Yosemite Falls and its reflection, along with the majestic mountains standing tall, I captured the scene at various focal lengths and in as many multiple lighting and sky conditions as I could. This image is actually a multiple vertical-image panorama stitched together to make a horizontal to be able to capture the entire scene. What you can't 'hear' through a photo alone were the sounds of the waterfall crashing loudly onto the rocky wall along the long way down (2,425 feet). That mixed with the most beautiful songs of birds in the trees made for a harmonious treat for the ears as well.
I was attending an award presentation at a lonesome church on the west coast of the Isle of Man, when I took a breather and found this handsome horsey around the back of the church.
This was my first Explore so thanks so much for all the kind comments and favourites!! Highest position was #18.
This is one of my personal favourites, it was a perfectly lit afternoon and we stumbled on this by chance as we got lost around Epperstone near Nottingham! Taken with the Tamron 17-50mm.
Taken at Emsworth on the south coast. This tranquil moonlit scene was snapped just after sunset at low tide. I like its simplicity along with the reflections of the yachts and channel markers at the entrance to the harbour.
Tranquility is the name that immediately conveys the feeling when we visited Hoopers inlet near Dunedin. Arriving just as the sun had set, there was no spectacular display of colour in the sky, but it was still a great place to be, quiet and still. This photo is looking south towards the open sea, though the inlet is large, so the sea is someway off and not audible. High tide and the still water provided this great reflection of one of the boat sheds that Hoopers Inlet and Papanui Inlet contain.

Snapping some new pictures of the Garden for an Article my hubby invited me to write for his new upcoming magazine.
Gardens are so tranquil, even in the virtual world.

I've gotta tell ya, Tom really knew how to cut to the chase and tell it like it is! Pretty sure he stepped on a number of toes along the way. :)
I chose that Jefferson quote partly because of the tranquil feel of this farm but also because of my respect for those who work the land. I've never met a farmer/rancher that wasn't hard working, friendly and...happy(most of the time).
This is a little farm, here in Loudoun County, that always seems to be photogenic. It had a particularly strong pull on my camera last weekend.
