Sometimes you can find tranquility in an empty dark room. Sometimes even in the rush of a city. For me most times tranquility is not found in a place, but within a mindset. Yet to have that awareness of your whole existence can become so overwhelmingly pure by surrounding yourself with nature, and emptiness and wildness - and that purity can bring you so much closer to yourself.
Most times we just forget to take breaks. To just pause. To just let go of things that poison our hearts without we even noticing them. It's not only people or circumstances that can be toxic - sometimes that toxicity comes from within.
We empty our sorrows in cyclic behaviours. We start closing doors to simple things as if we could go by without them. Books pile up in a corner, we barely find time to discover new music or art, the repeat button never ceases to be on in every task we fulfil everyday. And we disconnect from each other and ourselves, more and more. Time is unforgiving.
And when appreciation survives those empty, repetitive days, we suddenly rediscover joy in small things. A paper we drew on while daydreaming about traveling somewhere new, the way a boiled egg is still soft in the middle and bathes the food underneath it, the melody of a song we haven't heard in years, the smile of a stranger in the middle of the street on a very rainy day. Or the joy of reuniting with friends we haven't seen for a while.
Everything is pure beauty. We just forget to check into tranquility and take that time to be appreciative. To become full within once again, and notice the universes in us.
I have no words to what forests, mountains and snow mean to me. If I could sing the song my heart sings when I touch snow, or I see snow covered mountains, and no matter how alone I am, I am then unable to feel loneliness, I would. I would sing all of the songs, because happiness would then be almost as palpable as I am free when in the wilderness.

Not only did the sky produce some beautiful colour, but the still water made for great reflections, and a low mist on the water added some atmosphere.

In the early morning, I embarked on a challenging hike from the Six Senses Bumthang to the revered Chorten Ningpo Monastery in Bhutan. The journey was far from a leisurely stroll, yet as I neared my destination, a breathtaking view of the monastery awaited me as a remarkable reward. My purpose for arriving at the monastery so early was to participate in the sacred morning prayers at Chorten Ningpo. Eager to document this spiritual experience and the morning rituals of the devoted monks, I hoped to capture their moments of studying, prayer, and breakfast - Chorten Ningpo Monastery, Punakha, Bhutan
This image was taken at Sunset in South Lake Tahoe. Freel Peak is pink with Alpenglow in the background. This scene is actually just next to my grocery store. I'm curious to know which one you viewers like more and why?
This image is a perfect example of why I need a Full frame Dslr, like the Canon 5d Mk II. In order to get this image, I had to take 3 vertical hdr images shot from my 40D w/ an 18mm aspherical Tamron lens and stitch them into a pano. An 18mm lens on a 5D Mk II would have been almost too wide for this shot.

St George Wharf is a riverside development in Lambeth, London, England, located on the southern bank of the River Thames beside Vauxhall Bridge.
The 93,000-square-metre (1,000,000 sq ft) mixed-use development is located between the Vauxhall Cross road junction and river, and is near Vauxhall station. The River Effra, one of the Thames' many underground tributaries, empties into the main river close-by.
The development comprises over 1,100 apartments, as well as offices, retail units and restaurants. It has twice won the Architects' Journal's 'Worst building in the world' award.

A beautifully tranquil morning at Punta del Rio in El Campello Spain, it was still a few minutes before sunrise and there was some lovely soft light and beautiful tones in the sky and on the distant hills with the distinctive shape of Puig Campana mountain in the background and reflected in the rock pool.

I always feel like my silhouette dog photos come the closest to being "art" - so I was grateful, given the challenge for today, that the low cloud ceiling opened up briefly before dusk so I could take a silhouette photo of Shyla.

Burton Mere is a nature reserve on the Dee Estuary straddling the border between Cheshire.England and Flintshire Wales.It is run by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
