Those who live by the sea can hardly form a single thought of which the sea would not be part.

― Hermann Broch

I took this at the same place, same day as the ICM I posted recently, titled Ebbing. This is Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver. It was the lowest tide I've ever seen there. I've never seen the lighthouse on land before!

There are always lots of freighters anchored and waiting to be loaded.

Taken in the late afternoon from a boat on the River Vecht, the Netherlands.

Thanks for visiting. I am very grateful for the very kind comments and faves.

Recently "discovered" by Scout as an Explore pic...............I thought I'd re-post it just because I like it.

Addendum: It has been made clear to me (more or less) that this image has recently made the Explore 500 for the day it was posted (in May 2008), a function of the Interestingness algorithm operating for every day in the past 4-5 years of Explore. I used to think that the 500 became fixed after the calendar moved on, but now I am given to understand that images are constantly in flux on every day of the past. It seems strange, but at least it explains the sudden appearance of an image on the Scout Explore banner long after it was posted.

Thanks for stopping by my gallery. I’m very pleased and really appreciate each and every view of my photo, comments, invitations and awards

The Lakes feb 2019

It did feel very peaceful standing there, even though there is a road 10 meters behind me.

This is from a short motorbike ride last autumn. I had taken the bike to the dentist as it was such a nice day, and stoped on the other side of the Jølstravatnet (Jølster lake) from Sandal.

It was the reflections that made me stop, I didn't see the boat before I had walked down to the shore.

There is a couple more photos in the first comment, among them a fun fact I have stolen from the internet.

Early morning, before sunrise, not a soul in sight.

This is the brand new pier after the old one was totally destroyed by Hurricane Nicholas and past storms.

This is what the damaged old pier looked like.

Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted. Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world.

[Looking large worthwhile...can you find the blue damselfly?]

My favourite time of the day

Looking across lovely Lake Louise at the Boat House on a moody day. The sense of serenity and wonder was strong this day.

May you day be Wonderful!

I realized that I do not have many portrait orientation photos. This is a rare one, from my archive.

Have a great weekend!
