This was taken by chance; if I didn't go earlier, I wouldn't have spotted this couple sitting here, enjoying the afternoon quietly.
The real spiritual progress of the aspirant is measured by the extent to which he achieves inner tranquility.

A few hundred feet from my house is this beautiful lake. I sit there contemplatively or meditatively and watch the ducks...just feeling the wonderful soothing qualities of the water and the environment. This shot wasn't cropped. My camera, which apparently has a mind of its own, was set on wide.

"Silently reflection turns my world to stone
Patiently correction leaves us all alone
And sometimes I'm a travel man
But tonight this engine's failing.
I still hear the children playing."

In contrast to daily hullabaloo with kids playing, the pool was completely still in the evening, with nice reflections.
Photograph taken around at 09:50am on September 6th 2012 off Kirkstone Pass at a height of 345 metres at the summit of a road so windy and tricky they named it 'The Struggle', past Glenridding and heading towards Ambleside and Lake Windermere, part of the Lake District in Cumbria, England.

As gentle as the wind blows
It summons the waves..
Enticing rocks lull
Silence rules,
Peaceful souls..
Tranquility that lasts..

Tranquil Rose is a family run business with James on board as skipper, and Sheelagh in the office dealing with the administration of running a Hotel Boat.
For the past twenty years we have lived in Surrey, close to the Wey Navigation, and it was exploring the Wey with our young family on our own narrow boat, that introduced us to the wonders of the Inland Waterways. Now that our children have spread their wings, we have the opportunity of running a business and pursuing our love of canals, rivers and boating.
We are now well into our stride running Tranquil Rose, meeting her regular clientele as well as welcoming many new guests to the wonderful world of Hotel Boats and enjoying all that England’s beautiful Waterways have to offer.
