I went on a photo-group meet up tonight for the first time ever. It was nice to meet people with similar interests and to see how other approach photography. Also got to meet a very famous local photographer! This is one of my top 3 photos from the evening.

The slowly fading sun creeps behind the horizon beyond

The orange skies and cool winds I am very fond

No matter how crazy a day I have had

I feel relaxed now, and will go to bed glad

This picture was taken on the first night when we got to Canada. According to weather report, we would get cloud or snow weather all the time of our trip except the first night. So, we decided to go there to give it a shot. Just get our Rocky Mountains Milky Way checked:-)

This photo was combined with two shots, one for milky way with f/2.8, ISO 6400, and 20"; another for foreground with f/2.8, ISO 800, and 5 minutes. When I shot foreground, I also used in camera noise reduction for long exposure.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look of my pictures. Your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!!

New edit, memories

A big beaver pond in St Charles Canyon, Idaho is still under construction. Notice how the fallen tree was chewed down. This pond has flooded a lot of the canyon floor and often diverts water across the road causing a lot of work for county road crews.

So difficult to achieve peace

Cabarita Beach, Northern NSW

Again, a shot I would never get without a big lens.

My love affair with my new (old, broken VC) Tammie continues.

I suppose with a working VC I would have shot this @ 1/320th and ISO 100 - but at full stretch without VC it's hard to get away with anything under 1/1000th. The girls in this shot were about 700 metres away.

Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.

"It is neither wealth nor splendor, but tranquility and occupation, which give happiness." - Thomas Jefferson

Located in the Clyde Murshiel Regional Park behind Greenock and Gourock, Loch Thom is a man-made Loch, originally created to feed the Greenock Cut and provide much needed water to the rapidly industrialising Greenock. It is named after Robert Thom, the Architect who designed The Cut. Very little breeze and the warmest day we've had this year made for a lovely peaceful sunset over Loch Thom on Tuesday. (looks best on black)

An unplanned shot taken whilst scrambling down Ingleborough, running away from rapidly accumulating mist. This shot was taken further down where the mist gave way to a milder haze and produced wonderful pastel shades in the sky.

Another image taken at my recent visit to Langstone Harbour, Hampshire to capture the sunset.

This image was taken about 20 minutes after the sun had dropped below the horizon and shows the afterglow colour reflecting on the still water in the harbour!
