Mysmokymountainpark.com: The Appalachian Trail (AT), one of our nation’s most spectacular hiking trails. It travels 72 miles through Great Smoky Mountains National Park following the Tennessee-North Carolina border bisecting the park. It’s a spectacular place to get a taste of the AT before you commit to the idea of hiking the entire trail’s 2,181 miles from Georgia to Maine.
Appalachiantrail.com: The Appalachian Trail (affectionately referred to as the AT) first opened as a continuous trail in 1937. It is marked by iconic white blazes (one about every 70 feet). The actual length changes from year to year as the trail shifts and detours are added or removed. Each year, thousands attempt to hike the entire trail. Of those that finish, it takes an average of 165 days. The AT was the first trail to be named a National Scenic Trail by the National Trails System Act in 1968. Rights of way and government ownership protect more than 99 percent of the trail. The AT is maintained by over 4,000 volunteers.
As the world's longest hiking only trail, the AT traverses most of the eastern US. The AT runs from Mount Katahdin in Maine to Springer Mountain in northern Georgia. Along the way, it crosses 14 states: Maine (287 mi), New Hampshire (161 mi), Vermont (150 mi), Massachusetts (91 mi), Connecticut (52 mi), New York (90 mi), New Jersey (73 mi), Pennsylvania (229 mi), Maryland (41 mi), West Virginia (18 mi), Virginia (554 mi), Tennessee (94 mi), North Carolina (96 mi), and Georgia (79 mi).

Main line trailing point indicator. The lunar white (pale blue) indication means that the departure end points are set for a main line movement to proceed when in possession of the proceed authority (normally a track warrant).

A 15 minute star trail taken during the Lyrid meteor shower, although I don't think any are captured here.
The two bright trails far right are Saturn and Spica.
Captured using a Nikon 10.5mm fisheye lens on a D7000. Interval timer was an cheapo chinese gizmo, branded Aputure which works very well and much easier to setup than The d7000's own inbuilt timer.

This 2.4-mile paved trail provides a quiet, scenic escape northwest of Philadelphia, from Encke Park at Radnor-Chester Road to the shopping center at Sugartown Road and Route 30. The trail travels mostly through wooded areas, passes near local parks and is lined with several benches.
Founded in 1902, the Philadelphia and Western Railway Company (P&W) was intended to be part of Jay Gould's proposed intercontinental electric railway. Gould's grand and progressive plan was scaled back, as was the route of the P&W Trains, featuring luxurious, elaborately appointed cars. It once traveled from Philadelphia's 69th Street Station to suburban Strafford. For the first few months, the trains ran every quarter hour, with the full route taking a half hour. The line remained active until 1956, when it was replaced with bus service.
In 2005 Radnor Township celebrated the opening of the multi-purpose Radnor Trail. Running through residential areas, the trail provides a popular off-road route to retail centers and schools.
The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them.

No, I'm not using "watchdog" as a figure of speech. I mean that there are two, rather large dogs, watching people like myself on the Bloomingdale Trail.
The fog was just beginning to lift as we ascended this trail on the north side of Cape Breton Island.

The northernmost segment of Montgomery County’s Pennypack Trail, from Byberry Road to County Line Road in Lower Moreland Township, opened for public use in spring 2021. With the completion of this 0.7-mile section, the trail now extends for 6.2 miles along a scenic corridor beginning at the south in Rockledge Park and continuing north to the Bucks-Montgomery border at County Line Road.
Built on the former Fox Chase-Newtown SEPTA rail line, this 10- to 12- foot-wide gravel path provides level hiking and biking opportunities with scenic views of the Pennypack Creek valley.
Starting from the south at Rockledge Borough Park, at the intersection of Robbins & and Rockledge Avenues, the trail immediately crosses over Shady Lane and then a majestic 165-foot-long steel bridge that spans 35 feet above a small stream valley of a tributary to Pennypack Creek. For the next 2 miles, the trail runs along the western edge of the county’s Lorimer Park.

On the Sandbeach Lake trail in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) in Colorado. The trail doesn't have many scenic overlooks, like many other trails in the park. However, there are some at the beginning. This is one.
I spent a few hours wandering around the trails in Golden Ears Provincial Park. This is a typical West Coast Rain Forest. As we had some heavy rains a few days before , I thought I would go looking for some mushrooms to photograph. There were a few but it's still early in the month for that. It was a very pleasant day with hardly anyone around. Black bears, cougars, coyotes , and other animals are here but I did not see any .
