The Inca Trail starts from a point in the Sacred Valley, called "Kilometer 82". To begin the journey, you cross a narrow bridge in Kusicancha, and then you head towards the left side of a eucalyptus forest. This trip is not suitable for cardiac people as it passes over 4,600 meters above sea level, the road winds up, down and around the mountains on ancient carved stone stairs, and then continues through three high Andean mountain passes , one of them with a disturbing name, "Dead Woman's Pass."

The French skies are much more conducive to great star trail shots than London ones.

Camel Trail is a bike trail that links Bodmin to Padstow passing through Wadebridge. It uses the former place in which stood the rail linking those towns. Except for a small part across wadebridge, this is a bike only trail. It is 17 miles long. As we departed form Wadebridge to Padstow, than we went to Bodmin and returned to Wadebridge, we cycled 34 miles (about 54 km).

I shot this in Point Reyes National Seashore (Park). I went backpacking there, it was lovely. I loved the forget-me-nots growing along the trail, they were in full force this week! (Myosotis sylvatica) Wood Forget-me-not (blue flowers).

Lack of green grass is unusual for January but it's been a very dry start to the rainy season.

Poor star trails effort. Battery ran out and the moon didn't help

19th May 2012 - Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her Diamond Jubilee - her 60th year since ascending to the throne and the British Armed Services commemorated the event in style with a gathering at Windsor Castle - all 2,500 of them.

The event attended by HM the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, was opened by the earlier nine-ship Typhoon flypast and once the festivities had taken place and to close the event, at 12:25pm there followed a mass flypast by some 76 more aircraft drawn from the RAF, The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Royal Navy, the Army Air Corps and the Royal Marines comprised of Helicopters, Ground Attack aircraft, a VC-10 Tanker, a WWII Lancaster Bomber, Hercules Transports and Tucano and Hawk Trainers, the latter in two distinct formations (see later)all culminating in a final Diamond nine flown appropriately by The Red Arrows display team.

With the weather less than ideal and having moved up to the green at Pirbright - along with other spectators we awaited the remaining mass formations.

Following on from the rotary elements and still east of the main track with fast-jets and heavies to come behind, the BBMF's Avro Lancaster trails four of her Supermarine Spitfires stablemates - three with Rolls-Royce Merlins plus a Griffon powered example as 'Tail-end Charlie'
