TRACK is a unique art experience in the public and semi public space of the city of Ghent. It offers surprising, enriching and unexpected encounters with the city, its history and its inhabitants and incites to reflect upon urban realities and the contemporary human condition in a broader sense. 41 international artists were invited to conceive new art works that are strongly rooted in the urban fabric of Ghent but link the local context with issues of global significance.

TRACK is een unieke kunstervaring in de openbare en semi-openbare ruimte in de stad Gent. Het biedt verrassende, verrijkende en onverwachte ontmoetingen met de stad, zijn geschiedenis en zijn inwoners en zet mensen ertoe aan te reflecteren over stedelijke realiteiten en de hedendaagse condition humaine in ruime zin. 41 internationale kunstenaars werden uitgenodigd om nieuw werk te creëren dat diep geworteld is in het stedelijke weefsel van Gent, maar dat de lokale context ook verbindt met thema’s die een universele relevantie hebben.

Vilhjálmur Einarsson, Class of 1951
An Icelandic track and field star, Einarsson was a participant in the 1956 Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia. There, he set an Olympic world record in the triple jump and won a silver medal. It was the first medal for Iceland in the Olympic games. He is an accomplished painter, and continues to teach math part-time at a high school in Iceland.

Bird tracks in the sand at the beach at Lake Rudan in Haninge. It was a rainy day, but when I arrived to the Lake the clouds opened up the sky so that I could take somo photos! I like it when that happens!

i remember the day the original McCormick Place burnt down -- the family drove down to Chicago that day. I was a child, but a remember it clearly. freaky recall (math = age 3 and 3/4).
No doubt the area in foreground and skyline look somewhat different, being further (re)developed in once upon a en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_M._Daley .
I don't know much about rail but one of the Transfield crew told me this machine is able to lift sleepers and distribute the rubble underneath in order to keep the tracks level. A pretty cool looking machine I think.
