A westbound empty oil meets an eastbound loaded coal train just west of Forest Avenue in Downers Grove.
The tracks disappear into the brush. I remember when you could see all the way to Thelwall from here, shortly before being deafened by neeeeeeeee nooooooorrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!. Twice I came within a few milli seconds of being hit by a freight train and diving off the tracks with my heart pounding out of my chest.
This is my entry for this months competition on 'Roads,streets tracks etc.

This photo gives a great view of the Bush Train Shed. Hoboken Terminal was one of the first stations in the world to employ the Bush-type train shed, designed by and named for Lincoln Bush of the DL&W (of which Hoboken Terminal was the eastern terminus), which quickly became ubiquitous in station design.
The shed is a series of "V" shaped canopies that direct rainwater to the center for drainage. The apex of each canopy is open with a small gap of about 24 inches to allow smoke from steam (and later, diesel) engines to escape. Since the terminal has also been electrified since the 1930's, there is also a catenary wire in each gap.

This track crosses Sullivan Trail north of Uhler Road in Forks Twp, north of Easton, PA. I think this is a spur that goes to and from the cement factories in Nazareth. Former Lehigh & New England RR, now Norfolk Southern.

In spring 2018 I spotted this memorial from nearby SR 347 (at far left but unrecognizable) but did not have a chance to photograph it before returning home to Renton. So it went onto my to-do list for the next visit to Maricopa. In January 2019 I took this picture, completing that action item. It was a forlorn sign with no trace of any written message. The brownish building at far right is the Amtrak station that serves Phoenix (Amtrak does not go through Phoenix).
