... before the dawn. Not a great shot, through the car windscreen in the dark at 50mph.
I liked the sense of headlights cutting through the darkness, and the distant emerging daylight on the horizon. I hope it is worth the lack of quality!

We had our first "real" snowstorm today. There was about an inch, but it's warm, so it's melting. Still, more snow is forecast for the next few days. They call it "lake effect" snow. I'm not sure how that differs from other snow, but apparently the weather patterns are dictated somehow by the Finger Lakes and the Great Lakes.
California Quail. The California Quail is a highly sociable bird that often gathers in small flocks known as "coveys". Quail are vegetarians. Eating mostly seeds and berries, a hungry quail will eat leaves, roots or some small insects. IMG_9341
This panorama was merged from 5 single shots taken from the tripod with the Otus 1,4/28 at the Nikon D800E.

Taken in our neck of the woods, near Gore's Landing earlier this fall. The leaves have had their glory but I must say it was a spectacular fall.
This is the third in the series of shots taken last Sunday as a part of the trip to the Orchid Exhibit at Krohn Conservatory. So far none of those shots have shown any trace of an orchid! This was actually taken en route home at Ault Park, where the magnolias were just threatening to bloom!.
Today I went back to Murnau, first to do some biking with very good friends and in the evening, I hoped to get some nice light to take photos. The green is now breaking through with a lot of power in the higher regions too. Trees that were naked one week ago appear in beautiful fresh colours.
I took 4 hand held shots with the 50 mm lens which were merged in Photoshop in order to get this panorama view.
