The Mansion was built in 1839, but the 800 foot long double row of 28 Southern Live Oaks are approx. 300 years old. Go figure

Jökulsarlon is for me one of the niciest places on Iceland,it's always fun to be there

I decided to grow some black (as described on the packet!) sunflowers to add to the garden this year & chose 2 different varieties. I sowed 6 seeds of each variety & they all germinated nicely & I planted them in the garden only to have them completely taken out by the slugs (greedy pigs)! So I repeated the excercise & ended up with 12 more sunflowers which I duly planted out. This is the sole survivor (slugs again) which is just about to bloom. I'll post another shot when it's blossomed fully, that's if I can get to it before the slugs do lol!

We grow a few herbs in our garden, and cut them for cooking, along with salad greens, or as fragrances with calming and healing properties. It's not the best time for them at the moment, as the chives have finished flowering, and the lavender is only just beginning to form tiny buds, but I cut a little of both ;o)

This is a further panorama taken in spring with Murnauer Moos. The dominating mountain group is Estergebirge, at the right side we can see Ettaler Manndl and Wetterstein far behind.
