What an amazing capture of such a unique flower, very appropriate for the Christmas season. Looks as if the flower have little ornaments on them, very beautiful indeed. !!

If anyone knows the name of these beauties, please let me know. Lol: Gaston.

Enchanting Fall colors to brighten a gloomy day.

As the season is drawing to a close there will be winter snow ahead. Blessed to live in a area that brings four seasons to the valley.

Thank you all for your warm visits, comments, faves and invites.

The March forest tint.

Throwback Thursday. One of the first pictures I took with my old Reflex.

This picture was merged from 2 hand held shots taken with the Zeiss Milvus 1,4/25 at the Nikon Z7. Autumn colours are very powerful now and some trees have already lost their leaves due to the heavy storm 2 days ago. Here at Staffelsee, some maple trees were showing fall colours at its best.

Behind the foreground, we can see Estergebirge, a part of Wetterstein and Ammergbeirge which is the typical view in this beautiful region.

It's not about moving pixels, it's about pictures that move us. -- John Weiss

Taken last October, this shot kept getting bumped by other images. Since this is the last day of autumn, I figure I'd better post it now or file it away until next year.

Happy Fence Friday! 😊

I've been shooting the small ranch fence by the back door for weeks now. I thought the clematis had all died (many plants do, in our northern temperatures). Then it suddenly started to grow again from the base, and has given us a glorious display of colour!

Have a lovely weekend, and stay safe!

I have been waiting 7 years for a cygnet in Stanley park.

The never hatch because of not being fertilized or raccoons and coyotes.

Hope the resident eagles don't catch it either.

[Written 10/28/15]:

My photoshoot today was quite an adventure! Previously, I had scouted some great locations for shooting landscapes in an area of Tampa surrounded by a nature preserve. I had my vantage point on a small hill all worked out, and was hoping for some sunrise magic with glorious shafts of sun beams piercing through the trees and a magnificently colored sky. Instead, in the darkness as I was driving to the site, it started raining cats & dogs. I muttered a few choice words under my breath, but then figured, "That's what they make umbrellas for!"

So I parked my car and with umbrella in hand, trekked out in the rain to "my spot". Fortunately, the rain let up after a while, but the sky was still so cloudy that I couldn't even see where the sun was rising. Despite the moisture in the air creating an ethereal mist, my shot wasn't happening... there was no magic. Maybe my "great" location wasn't so great after all! So I started moving around, and the moment I framed the waterlillies floating in the water amidst the glorious autumn treees in the mist, I could feel the magic. I shot and shot many exposures and positions, and unexpectedly, one good shot after another presented itself for the next hour.

I left the site with an utterly exhilerated feeling. That rush... isn't that what nature photography is all about??? :)

AKA: Winter White.

We drove south doing some errands yesterday, and if it had been snowing, we would have encountered true white-out conditions. As it was, earth and sky were the same color. I did no post-processing, except framing!!!
