114/365: Tonight we made tiny paper garlands for the Christmas tree using origami papers. I love tiny things -- even though altogether it is barely two feet long, it looks darling on the tree :)
Today was my last day at work. Hurrah! Tomorrow is for secret shopping and present wrapping! I don't have to return to work until January 2.
I thought a lot of these would make good tilt shift shots since most of them were taken from the bus and had motion blur issues. And, the houses are tiny to begin with...
I found this tiny little spider on the back of a leaf. The overall sharpness is lacking as I had to use extension tubes and some other trickery to get it to fill enough of the frame to where I wasn't cropping in to a tiny spot on the image. The texture on the leaf is wild, and if you look close enough you can see the spider has a little web hooked into the leaf as an anchor to keep it in place, very interesting. Overall it came out okay, using the D7200, a 105 f2.8 micro and a strobe and a flash.

Stalked by Petra's gloriously friendly 19-pound behemoth of a cat. I think this was about 2.3 seconds before I got headbutted. Tiny Pony is the best (purring) pillow ever.

As with all babies, anole lizards are really cute when they're young. I found this guy earlier this evening, trapped in the sink out by our pool. He looked very photogenic, so I indulged in a few photos before releasing him to the backyard.

Tiny Bluet, Houstonia pusilla Schoepf, syn. Hedyotis crassifolia Raf. I've heard them called "red-eyed bluets" as well. The larger flower is about 9 mm across. A common lawn weed in early spring here, though native--one of the few native lawn "weeds", in this area, in my experience. It blooms earlier than the larger Bluet, or Quaker Lady, Houstonia caerulea. I love the deep purple color and the red at the center. These little flowers are tough to photograph--very low to the ground and very bouncy in the slightest wind.

Ruby has named them "my tinies". they are her favorite favorite favorite mittens. She will not wear another pair. It is so rewarding when your kid actually loves something you've made for them. She's already started lobbying for me to knit a larger pair for next winter. This is the second winter for these. I think she likes them because they fit snugly and don't fall off like the others. Hence the name. The long wrist ribbing is key.
Made from a pattern in my head with self patterning sock yarn. the thumbs and wrist cuffs were a different skein.
