This set consists of a bunny headdress, armband and a dress.

I absolutely love these tiny shops in the villages, they always have those sweet jars in a row. I sometimes see such small shops in the older parts of the city too here...

The last show of the day was a group of little girls putting on a dance show. How could I pass that up?

Common Garter Snake

Thamnophis sirtalis

About 10" long. While wandering paths in the woods, I came upon a family of three obviously looking at something on the trail ahead. When I got near enough, they told me it was a snake, so of course I was all excited. The mother was taking pictures. It was all coiled up, and as I walked up, it actually sprung at me! I read later that that's pretty rare, but it was probably feeling pretty threatened by then with yet another big creature coming up on it.

After the family walked away and I finished taking pictures, it stretched out and slithered for the cover of leaves to the side of the path.

Black dogs such as Tiny are half price at the Humane Society of Utah.

The reason for the discount on the adoption fee is that black dogs (and cats) are more often overlooked for other non-black dogs.

This means black dogs are less likely to find homes and more likely to be euthanized.**

This photo of Tiny was taken a while ago. She is no longer at the HSU; however, there are many other good, sweet, beautiful black dogs waiting.

**Black dogs at the Humane Society of Utah are always half price.

Why?

Black dogs have a harder time finding homes than light- or multi-colored dogs.

Black dogs and cats make up almost 75% of the "pull list" -- that is, adoptable animals who are euthanized due to lack of space and time in adoption

department running out.

Whitinsville Christian rolls past SLA.DIVISION 3 BOYS' BASKETBALL: WHITINSVILLE CHRISTIAN 65, SOUTH LANCASTER 28..By Tom Flanagan CORRESPONDENT..NORTHBRIDGE — South Lancaster Academy's postseason got off to a fast start Monday night when it defeated 2010 Central Mass. Division 3 finalist Maynard. ..When SLA met up last night with the defending Division 3 champion, however, its season came to a sudden stop. ..Fourteen players scored as second-seeded Whitinsville Christian overwhelmed visiting SLA, 65-28, in a first-round game. ..Whitinsville Christian (19-2) will host Douglas in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. tomorrow. ..“We knew we wanted to come out and get off to a fast start,” said Whitinsville Christian coach Jeff Bajema, whose starters remained on the bench after storming to a 25-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. “(SLA) was coming off a nice win over Maynard, and we went and saw that game. They hit about 14 or 15 3-pointers, so we wanted to focus on taking that away.” ..This one was never in doubt and Whitinsville Christian asserted its dominance in a hurry, with its big stars making an impact. ..Sophomore point guard Colin Richey was in on Whitinsville's first nine points, scoring on a drive to the hoop and a 3-pointer before making a pair of pinpoint over-the-top passes that led to easy buckets for 6-foot-9 senior center Hans Miersma. ..Senior shooting guard Taylor Bajema then got into the act, tallying his eight points on a series of slashing baseline moves. ..“We have players that do so many different things and bring different skills,” said Miersma, who had 10 points, including a pair of buckets off offensive rebounds. “We're tough to guard, and we wanted to come out and set the tone on defense, and we did a great job of that in the first quarter.” ..Whitinsville Christian pushed its lead to 33-2 early in the second quarter as reserves Jesse Dykstra and Justin Tienharra keyed the offense. ..“We talked a lot about (the University of) Kansas and what happened to them in last year's (NCAA) tournament,” Bajema said. “This is tournament time, and the teams we'll play all earned the right to be here, so we need to be ready each night.” ..Tomorrow's game will be the last at Whitinsville Christian's unique and tiny gym for the seniors, a fact not lost on Miersma. ..“I really want to come and play well in our last game here,” said Miersma, who will play for Gordon College next year. “This is such a great place, with the fans going crazy and the band playing. I know I'll really miss being here.” ..Ed Kuhna scored 10 points to lead South Lancaster.

Tiny rats by RatBerry

I found this on a flowering shrub in the Parklands. I have no idea what it is but the tiny flowers were just beautiful. This was about 1cm across.

Smallest in the world?

I found this tiny moth just a few meters away from my home in Nagoya. There is an empty lot where everything is allowed to grow during spring and summer, providing not only a nice patch of green to the neighbourhood but also a habitat for fellows like the tiny moth. I shot this one with my new Olympus E-PL1 in combination with the heavy Zuiko 12-60mm – a rare combination, yet capable of great image quality. The small aperture of 4.5 made it possible to shoot this one without a tripod and makes it a kind of portrait rather than a classical insect macro shot. From my website at www.focx.de
