A tiny drumset I built out of a kid's 16" bass drum I found on Craigslist, a 10" kid's snare turned into a tom, a 13" rack tom turned into a floor tom, and a 12" cheapo snare drum on a hacked down ludwig snare stand. Total invested, $36 including used Evans G1 coated heads for $2 each and a 16" Evans Hydraulic on the back kick side for free.

The shells were all originally wrapped and all the PVC wrapping was sunbaked and warped to hell. The bass was black, the snare/tom was blue, the floor tom was dark gray. I painted them all with the same Behr matte red I used to paint the studio. The paint actually looks pretty good, and even better once sanded and layered with 4 coats of acrylic clearcoat.

Oh, and my crazy room.

once there was a jewelry box and inside that jewelry box there was a trinket box and inside the trinket box was a tiny porcelain doll that I had forgotten all about.

I spotted this tiny guy on the downspout during our warm weather this weekend. He's not even half an inch long. Any ideas on the ID? Happy Hug-a-bug day!!

At last! I was able to handle Amy's kittens at the rescue centre for the first time yesterday. Amy was pregnant when she arrived and gave birth to three kittens less than three weeks ago. She was very protective to begin with and wouldn't let anyone near the kittens, but she's getting used to the idea that people pick them up and no harm comes to them. Even so, when they squeal - as they do when they're picked up! - Amy comes running. These early days are such an important time for socialising kittens, so for the next few weeks they'll get lots of handling from both the staff and volunteers. It's a time we all love! There's another beautiful young black and white cat who's just arrived who's also pregnant and due to give birth any time now. This is kitten season!
