This part of Bodmin Moor, near Minions, a few miles north of Liskeard, has the remains of three neolithic stone circles known as The Hurlers, as well as several individual standing stones such as the one pictured. They are thought to date from around 1500 BC. Although there have been many theories, no-one knows for certain what their purpose was.
Tin and copper mining took place throughout this area until early in the 20th century, and many of the engine houses and other remains can still be seen. The engine house in the distance housed a 50-inch pumping engine, installed in the 1880s. The mine shaft it served reached 720 feet and was part of the South Phoenix Mine. The engine house is now a visitor centre.

It's not backwards. Second Life is weird.
House is the Guitar House from AITUI December Arcade gacha.
This is one of the last gas-powered lamps in London.
What kind of gas?
Well, it's sewer gas. Made from human effluence. The gas builds up down there, much of it flammable. This lamp burns it off harmlessly.
There were many of them in the past, but as building and sewerage changed over the years, they were removed and replaced with electrical lighting.
There are a few still around, this one is at ///jeeps.homes.passes and the nearest stations to it are Embankment (Underground), or Charing Cross
This shot captured colorful tulips, butterflies, and a windmill at the Utah Tulip Festival in Spanish Fork.
This is one of my favorite places to go and relax. I will share it with you too! Enjoy your Saturday all. * Really busy today but will be back sometime tomorow*
This is a completely new work out in Lightroom combined with a panroama composition from 2 hand held shots. Contrast was too hefty at the older single shot I showed years ago. Furthermore, I like the panorama view more at this subject. View goes from Dent d' Herens which is near to the viewpoint up to Grand Combin far behind.
CP 2-244 rockets east under the Mount Pleasant signals with a BNSF ACe in the lead, and behind the pair of barns from April 19th's GPS train on the Hamilton Sub. This particular 244 was just the ACe and a single autorack until West Toronto, where they were requested to back into Lambton and grab the empty ballast train that had been sitting since the night before and take it back to Toronto Yard.

This image could be a close up or a hill side. I deliberately left out any scale indication. It is the eroding side of a hill. I just liked its graphical nature when isolated and stripped of reference points.
But the dried grasses might give it away.
This is a species that is a year-round resident in our area, and a vocal and social presence in the woods, even when most other species have gone south. Their activity brightens winter days in the woods, just as the change in their vocalizing signals the advent of spring and breeding season.
I don’t often photograph them, but the late winter light, enhanced by late snow, creates some special opportunities.
this fogged in morning.
if my sleepy saturday winter brain had a scan, i suspect it could look like this.... and the barns would build walls around the thoughts, and the mist would be a barrier to any demands from an external world.
peace :)
This image will likely have more interest to those living in Canberra. A photograph of Greenway (Tuggeranong) back in 2013. Before the development of the lake foreshore.
This is another of my new dahlias this year. It's called Night Silence and is another favourite for photography.

My first time taking my camera to Stormont grounds and would love to catch the sunrising over the building some morning.
This is a mature cooper's hawk that I saw this morning. Seemed like a nice subject for a portrait. Usually I see immature cooper's hawks, so I was pleased to see an adult today
This is one of my standard motifs. I have done it many times using various cameras and lenses and settings. In this case, Leica M Mono, Voigtlander CS 2.2/50 at F8.
Taken this evening at Dell Quay Marina near Chichester. I took 25 pictures over an hour and a half standing in cold water just to get this one good one. So don't worry when the pro on his vlog tells you he always does it in one. Maybe he does maybe he doesn't. Most of us don't.

I used an ND 4 grad filter as the sky was so bright with the sun starting to dip down to the right.
I also used an ND10 to get the effect on the water but also to try and get as much colour in the frame as I could as the sun was starting to go behind a massive bank of cloud just out shot.

This weekend I went out on my motorcycle with my beautiful friend. Sorry, she doesn't have Primfeed. Anyway, we had a great couple of nights and rode back with the sun on our backs.

This unique style of architecture has its roots far back in Korean history and derives its singular style from the simple peasant houses that were common hundreds of years ago and had actual thatched roofs with generous eaves. Although the Koreans build most of their buildings using international standards of architectural design they do occasionally build structures, especially houses or sometimes restaurants, using this style that harks back to their distant past. I find them most interesting and pleasing to the eye. There is something of the Hobbit about these homes.
Please note that this was downloaded four years ago and I found a far better version of this than the one I originally ran. So this is a do-over. This house, due to its peculiar but lovely construction, was challenging in getting a shot that did not look distorted because the house itself was built in such an eccentric way. So...here it is again in all its glory.

This Highland cow was very grumpy he was not pleased to see me at all. I was very glad there was a good fence. He lives just beside Castle Roy in Nethy Bridge and is quite a tourist attraction if he is in a good mood!!

This is just another photo of Tofu doing what he always does unless it's raining like today. I think the birds around here have learned to appreciate rainy days as they allow them to visit their feeders without having to pay attention to the feline fluffball.
Perfect lunch with avocado.

This little guy was very entertaining today, as you can see from the photos in the comment section he was posing in a number of interesting ways!!!!
This little one, and I really mean little one, came totally by surprise to get some food for the night. She is no more than maybe 6 cm, but made my day like she was the biggest star on Earth :)
This year I have been helping a local Peregrine group with monitoring their local birds.
Green 26 is one such female. Green on right leg denotes East Sussex. Soon she will reach her 10th birthday as she was originally ringed on the Royal Sussex County Hospital in 2008. Not a bad age for a wild peregrine at all. Long may she continue.
