The welcoming touch of the mountains is long gone. Now it is a desolate place, where only the memory lives

This is one interesting bird that we have only spotted at Elk Grove Park. The domestic Swan Goose came from Asia. the Swan Goose, native to eastern Eurasia and sometimes called a Chinese goose. A domestic swan goose usually has a large knob at the base of the bill (the wild form lacks this). It also can show a white patch behind the bill. It varies from wild type coloring (mostly gray with a dark line down the back of the otherwise white neck) to pure white. This species is very territorial and had no fear walking up to our dog Louie and hissing. Yes, our Louie got the message and backed off very quickly.

This image shows the wonderful region 'La Geria' at Lanzarote. In the foreground you can see the 'vineyards' of Lanzarote, little circles with holes where the vine grows. In the background are the famous 'Montañas del Fuego' at the Timanfaya National Park.

This pano was stitched from 9 single shots.

This is my version of the iconic Rainbow Falls at the gorge.

I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D

This afternoon when I was out cycling.

This eagle was on a tank near the grain terminal. I was taking some head and shoulder shots when it dropped and and flew low overhead. The rest of my shots were basically belly, wing, and tail shots.

This is but a short drive from where I have moved to and it's truly lovely to have somewhere to go in winter to photograph wildlife. This pup was pretty close to the viewing path and had just fed.

This is one of the new Shetland foals who were born last summer.

This is one dangerous river as it is on a Lahar pathway which has claimed many bridges & lives over the years ( even a train)

Zomerleeuwenbek

Summer snapdragon

This is a species of perennial plant in the family Plantaginaceae.

Angelonia angustifolia has flowers that are either pink, blue, white, or purple. The flowers are reminiscent of snapdragons, although they are of a different genus. The flowers protrude off a center stem and has spear shaped serrated leaves.

Angelonia angustifolia is native to Mexico and the West Indies, but has been introduced notably in America, India, and Southeast Asia.

Summer snapdragons grow in moist soil and in full sun. It can survive in arid to semi-arid regions

Time slips through our fingers,

like water in a cracked glass.

We wait for the minutes to settle,

but they never do.

Yesterday is a shadow

in the corner of today,

a ghost that lingers

in the dimming light,

its whispers etched

on the diaries of memory.

And tomorrow is a tide,

pulling the present toward its shore,

never stopping, never still,

yet always just beyond reach—

a promise, a mirage,

woven from the threads of longing.

The clock hands march,

relentless as fate,

while we chase the echoes

of moments already lost,

and dream of those

not yet born.

Happy fence Friday! I hope you all aren't getting sick of all my shots with pink cherry blossom bokeh. I just can't help myself, and they are only around for such a short time.

This water walker is from my archives, taken in Florida

This cub wanted to come check out my little den but I told him he needed to go downriver and catch up with his mom.

His mom was down in the water way over to the right and out of the frame. I'd been standing on the porch of my cabin waiting for the two of them to head on downriver so I could go get some coffee.

But this little guy was so curious and walked up close to my porch where I was standing. Don't worry, I was right by my door and could have stepped in very quickly.

He was just curious and wanted to check me out for a second and then went on down the way to catch up with mom.

There's no crop on this

This is from last December. But still here is snow everywhere and this morning it was -13C

There are few signs though: you can hear the water on the streams flowing and I've seen a bunch of snowdrops

Thank you for your visit, most appreciated!

This summer we had two young visitors from NZ, and one day I took them to Thonon-les-Bains for the day; to thank me they gave me this pretty ceramic heart they found in an antique shop.

Width of photo including chain = 7cm.

This is a B&W photo of the Musquodoboit River adjacent to my yard that I took while intentionally moving the camera vertically during a one second exposure.

I dug this out from the hard drive. I havent shot anything new in a year or more. I still have a few tucked away here and there, I may dig those out between now and when I get my new table built.

Thanks for looking, I hope everyone enjoys.

Take this kiss upon the brow!

And, in parting from you now,

Thus much let me avow-

You are not wrong, who deem

That my days have been a dream;

Yet if hope has flown away

In a night, or in a day,

In a vision, or in none,

Is it therefore the less gone?

All that we see or seem

Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar

Of a surf-tormented shore,

And I hold within my hand

Grains of the golden sand-

How few! yet how they creep

Through my fingers to the deep,

While I weep- while I weep!

O God! can I not grasp

Them with a tighter clasp?

O God! can I not save

One from the pitiless wave?

Is all that we see or seem

But a dream within a dream?

In this April I encountered many beautiful scneries here and there.

Especially I love the sceneries of the mountain village , local small shinto shrines and so on.

I introduce some photos.

この4月にあちこちで美しい景色にであいました。

特に、山間の村の景色や、地方の小さな神社などが好きです。

This was taken at Victoria, Canada. The ships, the mountains and the rocks form a peaceful and harmony scene.

So just when you're wandering the ruined landscape and to your surprise find an apple tree with hopefully non-polluted apples, you hungrily tuck in...and hear a strange sound from a nearby building. I'm armed with my trusty Tsarknife from FOE, although its seen better days, and I'm sure my Outlander set from Somnium will help me blend in with the treeline. Time to run.

This side valley, known as Oxnop Gill, connects Swaledale and Wensleydale via a steep and winding road that rises to over 1,600 feet above sea level. At the top, Oxnop Scar, which is a steep limestone cliff, can be seen in the distance (just left of centre) on the eastern edge of. Oxnop Common. At the top it becomes Askrigg Common, with the village of Askrigg at the bottom of the fell in Wensleydale. The OS map shows a number of disused lead mines and mine shafts up here. The underlying rock is limestone, and this can be worn away by flowing water, resulting in pot holes and caves. Sometimes the land above this literally caves in, forming shake holes or swallow holes in the landscape.

This former and now abandoned ceramic factory in the Czech Republic focused mainly on the production of sintered ceramic goods. In the first half of its existence, a wide range of articles were made, which often included art and craft elements in the Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Neo-Renaissance style. However, the factory is most famous for manufacturing sintered ceramic tiles. - What you see here is actually only the office wing, there are 4 factory halls, which are unfortunately empty now and therefore not so interesting.

This is the last upload of Akyu photos.

The mist covered the mountains in the morning.

Even during a few minutes , the mountains were changing their faces because of the changes of the sunshine and the mist.

This old dead tree was full of birds today, and it **is** a favorite of the Acorn Woodpeckers. But this guy seemed to toss this one off as a reject.

"Surface Explorer 2" -- I built this in Oct 2002, but only now photographed it.

It was loosely inspired by the 1982 Surface Explorer that was a favorite set of mine way-back-when. (In this case, the gripper claw extends from within compartment.)

For whatever reason, I found myself in Chattanooga a few nights ago. I haven't done many night shots for quite awhile and the Walnut Street Walking Bridge in downtown Chattanooga is a great place to do it.

This is a sidewalk just beneath the bridge. I was heading back to my car when I noticed the switchback pattern and the wavy lines on the left. It just struck me as a cool scene.

- This car was created by Bad Bunnies !! Beautiful mesh work and great people! Check their Flickr for details on how to win this car!
