This is "Wall Art" in Deep Ellum, Dallas, Tx. The scene is a "takeoff" of the popular work of public art sculpture (on the side of the highway) in the middle of nowhere - Marfa, Tx. The artist called the work a "pop architectural land art project". Interesting....

This view is from the hill just above our house, looking out over the Severn Estuary towards the two Severn crossings in the distance.

#### I have been thinking of reposting this for a while. I need an outlet for my anger! A plan has been submitted for 230 homes to be built on these fields, so if they get their way, this view will be obliterated for good. These fields, in an elevated position above the town of Lydney, are really the last green space in the town. I know we don't own the view, but really, of all the places to put un-needed and unwanted housing, why here? Of course we all know the answer. Greed. A few individuals who put their lust for money above everything else. Well, what goes around comes around, I hope. ####

I got changed round the back of Joe's, into my outfit, ready to face the war. When I got outside it seemed pretty quiet, but that was the problem, it's never quiet in New York. The streets were empty, only a few footsteps could be heard. Some people may like it like this, but I didn't, I could almost smell something bad was coming. Suddenly the sound of the very few footsteps couldn't be heard anymore, instead there was a scream. With out a thought I ran to the scream. I kept on running, faster and faster, hoping that who ever was screaming wouldn't get hurt. As I got closer the scream, it sounded different, it was an alarm and it was coming from one of Stark's storage warehouses. "Lets rock and roll!" I said to myself whilst ripping out my claws and sprinting towards the nearest window. I leaped straight through the window, getting many cuts from the glass, that should heal quickly. There were two thugs with cheap guns, their faces were filled with shock and their hands were too sweaty to fire their guns. They had hostages and many of Stark industry's weapons. As I took care of the thugs I looked to the left of me, there was a door, wide open, I could of easily come in through there and not caused any damage. But that wouldn't of been as fun.

Hope you like it :D Credit for broken glass goes to Brick_Head :)

Went out this morning looking for something to liven up my photostream in case my recent blue, moody photos had people thinking I'd fallen into the depths of depression!

I shared sunrise on top of Mam Tor with about 10 other photographers. When I say sunrise, the only images to be made were "intimate cloudscapes" (i.e. couldn't see more than 20ft in front of me!). Decided it wasn't going to clear so came back down, and glad I did, because there was some wonderful light coming through the fog and haze on the valley floor. I've got a few different versions of this that I quite like.

(No word of a lie, this is with some negative saturation!)

This is Elzbieta, she is a breast cancer survivor. She had a double mastectomy in 2014 and then had breast reconstruction. I am honoured to have photographed this brave, strong woman.

This video shows thunderstorms affecting our annual family camping trip! Our camping trip this year was from July 19-22, 2015. This year, we headed to the Wolf Creek Campgrounds located at the Union Valley Reservoir. The thunderstorms quickly formed during the afternoon hours. Skies were quite clear during the morning. Talk about afternoon convection and atmospheric instability in the making! We even heard quite a few faint rumbles of thunder while we were at the lake. (If you want, put volume up and if possible, wear headphones to hear the thunder). The storms came when we were right at the lake...but it was perfect timing. Now I got to enjoy my type of weather! Even some of us wanted to go for a dip in the lake during the rain/thunderstorm lol. It was a great experience indeed! The storms subsided by the late afternoon hours...

(Footage/pics taken on Monday, July 20, 2015 while in and around the Union Valley Reservoir, at the Wolf Creek Campground side.)

How things got interesting weather-wise:

Our trip so happens to fall in days when the region was to experience thunderstorms! What timing, right?! Even on Sunday, July 19, 2015 when our trip started, this was the same time when moisture from the remnants of former Hurricane Dolores went over SoCal, breaking rainfall records there. Even when we were leaving San Jose, CA, t-storms have already occurred around the Monterey areas!! Some of the moisture even eventually made it up here around the Sierra Nevada where we were! So I took full advantage of this and took quite a few photos and video of the t-storms that did form and drift into our campground. On Monday, July 20, 2015, some of us even had the rare chance to swim in the reservoir during a thunderstorm! Don't worry, we didn't get struck by lightning, though one of us saw a CG lightning strike nearby to our north or so! It was a nice experience to swim in the lake in such weather! Then on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, the region had another similar weather pattern. T-storms developed again during the afternoon hours. Even a severe t-storm warning was issued for the region as slow-moving storms popped up around the area. Some of us (including me) were lucky enough to see some lightning from a slowly approaching storm cell to our south! The fun part was seeing these storms develop and approach towards while we were chilling\swimming at the lake. Overall, our annual family camping trip this year was an interesting one, thanks to the storms! The t-storm development had slowed down at the time when we were leaving, too (Wednesday, July 22, 2015)! It's pretty neat to realize that the storms had occurred only when we were there up in the Sierras.

This is one of two orphan sisters, living with their grandmother. Each day they hang out at the temples at Oudong, a popular local tourist site. They make a few dollars by fanning people resting in the public hammocks, after lunch. There is no social support for such kids in Cambodia.

This album was released by Hallmark in 1983. Interior stickers are from 1983-1988.

This is how she recommends cooking bacon. I find it's the best way also.

This is an illuminated and illustrated copy of the Ḫamse (quintet) of the Ottoman Turkish poet and scholar ʿAṭāʾullāh bin Yaḥyá ʿAṭāʾī (d. 1044 AH / 1634 CE). Although different in content, this work takes its inspiration from the famous Persian Khamsah of Niẓāmī Ganjavī (d. 605 AH / 1209 CE) and the Khamsah of Amīr Khusraw Dihlavī (d. 725 AH / 1325 CE). This Ottoman copy of ʿAṭāʾī's work ends with a portion of his Dīvān (fols. 142b-151b) instead of the fifth poem (mesnevi), Ḥilyet ül-efkār. The text, written in nastaʿlīq script, was copied by Ḫeyrullah Ḫeyrī Çāvuşzade in 1133 AH / 1721 CE. There are thirty-eight illustrations, and illuminated incipits introduce the different poems (fols. 1b, 22b, 63b, 107b, and 142b). The brown leather binding is original to the manuscript.

This illustration depicts the Ottoman fleet, led by Hüseyn Paşa, setting out from the Black Sea against the Polish army.

This is a lovely rural site, friendly staff, friendly locals, not outrageously expensive and a nice place to fill up. The lady who runs the place makes the best flapjack I have ever tasted, now there's a recommendation!

Richard has a photo of this place taken in 2015 when it looked exactly the same, see below. As he says, it looks like a former Shell site. He didn't have that annoying speck of dust on his lens though! There's an image of the garage from 2011 on Geograph.org where the pole sign had a different design but still looked like a former Shell sign.

I went back to this place a couple of days later to buy more flapjack and to take some more photos, they will follow in a few week's time!

This guy was eating the cat food on the back porch when i sat down on the floor he stopped eating. This was shot through the glass on the storm door and he was not happy about me moving around, i guess he thought i was going to take his food. Cropped in just a bit lol

This is John’s demonstration on how to stay young. I like how the silhouette turned out.

That was a fun little fast flickr meet up, I had a fun time.

This little guy was checking us out pretty closely as we drove by the field.

This is a closeup from the same series I posted from last night. This time I used a program for toning the image to imitate a black and white selenium toned print.. then pulled back the effect quite a bit, before removing the effect totally in the middle section and the top seeds, using a large sized application of Photoshop's Art History brush. You can still see the desaturated look of the toning around the edges, which helps the fully colorful middle feel all the richer and alive.

This is Pullman Yard, an old freight train warehouse that is now locked down and inaccessible. That being said, it seems to be frequented by graffiti artists, druggies, the random photographer, movie crews, and odd couples on odd dates... Hit it up with a fellow Flickr buddy one Saturday afternoon. I left the entrance permit at home but I swear I had it...

It is funny how even the most manufactured artificial place can get retaken by nature if you just give it time. This is all still indoors, but this warehouse is now owned by the graffiti artists and plants.

A resident species at this venue. Corkscrew Swamp.

This is the quite large central area, once enclosed by the wall of enceinte, which ran along the edge of the bank where I am standing. The Spey loops around below the bank that starts at the left side of the photo; passes just beyond the dead tree in the centre of the photo, but well this side of the distant hill; and then round below the right side of the photo. This area, although wilderness, is known to have been partially cultivated and used for cattle grazing, with the result that any signs of castle buildings (which would probably have been of timber construction) within the enceinte (above ground level at least) have been erased.

Drumbarrow is in Fife and we know that George Leslie of Drumbarrow (aka Dunberach) was sent north by his father to be captain of his castle of Rothes - now in not much better shape than this. The earl would have needed a reliable man for this job because he would have spent little if any time in these wild and heathen parts himself, being so far from the centres of power and politics.

The 1st Earl of Rothes was married three times. His son and heir, born to his 2nd wife, Andrew Master of Rothes, died 12 years before his father, leaving (besides his own children) a lot of sisters and one brother - and one illegitimate brother - George of Drumbarrow. With a shortage of sons, the Earl, as was quite common in those days, made best use of whatever sons he had, regardless of 'which side of the blanket' they came from!

There is an entry in the Register of the Secret Seal, that a precept of legitimation was issued to "Georgii Leslie, bastardi, filii naturalis Georgii Leslie de Akinwa" on 22 July 1584. I thought on reading it that the George being legitimated was George 1st of Aikenway, but it isn't, it is his son.

THIS WEEK'S THEME: "Since last week we did curves, this week lets see what we can do with lines and angles. Make a picture using line as a strong element of the composition. Horizontal, vertical, diagonal, leading lines, criss-cross lines etc."

..."OH, MY GOSH!!! You said...lines and "ANGLES"...not "ANGLERS".......ooops....well, I got the 'Lines' right!"..........LOL...wink, wink:)

This is a current photo of my cover. Not too wrecked, yet ... but it's in progress.

Looking at some smoke pictures from other people got me inspired. This is my take on it.

I don't have an external flash, so it's kinda tricky getting enough light to hit the smoke. I ended up getting a construction light at Home Depot; 250W Halogen light on sale for $4! Still testing around how I could get better results. It's a ton of fun.

This is a house in Haugesund, Norway, that I have been drawing while watching the italian horror movie SUSPIRIA. Maybe I was inspired by that..

This small, dark, long-tailed warbler is a UK resident and has struggled with harsh winters. The Dartford Warbler's population crashed to a few pairs in the 1960s, but has gradually recovered since then, increasing in both numbers and range. It is still regarded as an Amber List species. It will perch on top of a gorse stem to sing, but is often seen as a small flying shape bobbing between bushes.

The Dartford warbler (Curruca undata) is a typical warbler from the warmer parts of western Europe and northwestern Africa. It is a small warbler with a long thin tail and a thin pointed bill. The adult male has grey-brown upperparts and is dull reddish-brown below except for the centre of the belly which has a dirty white patch. It has light speckles on the throat and a red eye-ring. The sexes are similar but the adult female is usually less grey above and paler below.

Its breeding range lies west of a line from southern England to the heel of Italy (southern Apulia). The Dartford warbler is usually resident all year in its breeding range, but there is some limited migration.

This rather down at heel tri-axle coach has eluded my camera for a while now, but patience pays off! It was on a school job at Melville recently and I ventured into the bus parking area to bag my prize. I had thought it was a Leyland Tiger or maybe a Volvo, but it turned out to be a very rare Wade 220T dating from 1983.

This single frame from my CCD camera was an unexpected bonus while I was adjusting my telescope in the early evening of 10th October. By sheer chance I saw the aircraft approaching the image out of the corner of my eye and just had time to capture this solitary CCD frame in H Alpha.
