sharing some thoughts on finding joy in the ordinary moments at focusingonlifegrp.blogspot.com/2015/12/this-moment.html?m=0

This was taken at midnight. When I turned away from looking in the viewfinder, there was a man standing directly behind me, apparently he'd been looking over my shoulder. He told me that he was trying to see exactly what I was seeing. He told me he was there to commit suicide, that he had intended on jumping from the bridge we were standing on. We talked for quite a while and I managed to talk him out of it. You never know what you'll come across in the city at night.

I'm back and slowly catching up.

This is my new WOD character.. Her intentions are so pure, but her path couldn't be much darker- a blend of Luck, Energy and Malediction.. It'll be interesting...

This group of 3 Conair CV580's have been assigned to the British Columbia Forest Service air tanker base at Penticton. Only 4 of the type remain in the Conair fleet. The other one is assigned to Alaska and this is likely the last year for them before retirement. They served well in the role for over 20 years. Tanker 49 and 55 left on a practice mission but the fence got in my way when 55 took off.

This is Zaanse Schans. I visited this area (about 15 minutes north of Amsterdam) on the last night of my trip. It was one of the main things that I absolutely needed to see before I went home. The moment I arrived, I knew I had made a good decision. :)

This was the last photo I took at Zaanse Schans. Had to get one from this point of view one more time before I left.

Explored. :)

This is a meadow we noticed at Rutland Water on the way to see the Ospreys. The meadows were yellow with buttercups.

This area was burnt only a few weeks before this was captured, in Victoria, Australia. Taken with my 720nm converted Nikon D800 - 4 images combined.

this is the frame designed by Lu Sim, I'm going to try building a reFrame, I always wanted one, there are 2 things that I'm not sure I did ok/didn't have the piece so I had to improvise, I didn't have the knee piece so I just used an alternative, and the chest area is not clear on how to conect it to the ball joint for the torso. but I think I managed, so next step, the armor!

btw go buy his lug's mech wars book, it is amazing and offers great insights on mech building

As I walk through

This wicked world

Searchin for light in the darkness of insanity.

I ask myself

Is all hope lost?

Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?

And each time I feel like this inside,

There's one thing I wanna know:

What's so funny bout peace love & understanding?

What's so funny bout peace love & understanding?

And as I walked on

Through troubled times

My spirit gets so downhearted sometimes

So where are the strong

And who are the trusted?

And where is the harmony?

Sweet harmony.

Cause each time I feel it slippin away, just makes me wanna cry.

What's so funny bout peace love & understanding?

What's so funny bout peace love & understanding?

So where are the strong?

And who are the trusted?

And where is the harmony?

Sweet harmony.

This was the last time I fed the fish this year, that was not good of me.

The general rule of thumb is to slow feeding when the water starts to cool into the upper 50s Fahrenheit,

If the fish are still hungry, they'll find algae and other natural delights to sustain them, and these simple foods found in the pond will be more easily digested.

This was botanical gardens we explored on our own. Kinda wished we4 had done the guided tour because it would have described in more detail the ancient ruins of the early Hawaiians.

This and the next 4 Scans are from the German Country Homes Magazine.

Isn't this a lovely deck?

This little turkey got lucky and escaped. I wish him lots of luck while he's waiting for the next train out of Turkeyville!

If you remember this railroad track; yep, my model has turned into this turkey :)

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving dear friends and remember to give thanks to all that we have, family and friends.

This female Osprey was quite the crowd-pleaser, attracting several passerby as she rested on a snag next to a popular trail at Cape May Point State Park. She had a bit of an attitude, though, and regarded each newcomer with this look for about ten seconds before shifting her gaze elsewhere. It was a bit daunting for some, but in my case I was pretty happy for her to acknowledge my presence for a bit.

In fact, this is one of my older MOCs that I have built over two years ago. Some of you probably already know it from my Brickshelf gallery or Brothers-Brick. I have only reviewed some of the photos and they are now displayed in a slightly higher resolution.

For everyone who does not know it yet: this MOC is my favorite mecha from the Classic BattleTech series...in fact it is a Robotech design, but in the beginning it was also used for Battletech until it became "unseen"...whatever...I love this 75 ton steel monster...even if it is made of plastic....

This one was crawling round in the grass, guess he it was looking for food. HBBBT

This is a very shy American Bittern, who I actually stood in front of for a couple of minutes before seeing him.

This corner of North Avenue and Federal Street on Pittsburgh's North Side as it looked in 2008. The building seen here now houses the Crazy Mocha Coffee Shop.

This week I'm posting a series of images from the small but so beautiful Japanese Tea Garden of San Francisco, California.

Hope you like them ...

This paperweight was doing its job holding down some white paper, and then the sun came out and it started to sing.

I wanted to capture the beauty of an everyday object in sunlight, and convey the sense of the object moving into the realm of the surreal, out-of-this-world. In the sunlight it seemed to take on a life of its own.

This water fountain at the San Antonio Botanical Garden has a strong attraction for bees.

This is a migratory species, wintering in Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and Australasia, usually on fresh water. The shape of the lower bill gives it an upturned appearance. They have long greenish legs and a long bill with a grey base. They show a white wedge on the back in flight. They are somewhat larger than the related Common Redshank. The usual call is a rapid series of three short fluty notes syllabilized as teu-teu-teu.

This ice fishing hut on Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada had silhouetted cutouts on both sides - this one, a youngster with a fish, and one on the other side of a man sitting in a folding chair, fishing. Such creativity!

This is the third image in a series of images I shot in Manitoba in December, 2019 which won 1st Place in the Architecture category of the Sony World Photography Awards. The Awards ceremony and the exhibition have been cancelled, but winners will be announced on June 9.

SWPA has strict entry rules outlining when images can be shot and if they are published (publishing includes showing images on social media). As I shot these in December and had to submit them in mid-January I didn’t have a chance to show them online, so they were submitted as ‘unpublished’. I have received permission now to publish them on my website and on social media, so here you go.

I wrote a short blog post about this trip to Manitoba (and North Dakota) to photograph these ice fishing huts in December, 2019.

If you'd like, take a look at the the rest of the images in this ice fishing hut series.

This bridge is really narrow in the summer but throw some snowshoes on and it suddenly becomes a winterized balance beam.

This is the Castlefield area of Manchester which has Roman remains. Mancunium was established in AD79.

The canals are not very clean, but I like the jumble of bridges and pathways. This is a 5 photo stitch, I wish the light was more romantic , but there you go. #Dogwoodchallenge week8 Panorama. Should have taken in portrait mode for pano.

This Squirrell knew he wasn't supposed stealing the bird feed!

This was taken on a walk Sunday afternoon, just one tree, of several I saw felled, by our recent 7 weeks of storms. During the course of my work today,as we drove through the back of beyond, I saw literally 100's felled, the water from the rains has left the earth sodden, nothing left to hang on to.

This is another one of my favorites of Lauren. I think it captures her personality pretty well...

This is the oldest Wesleyan Chapel that has been in continuous use since being built. Wesley preached here and it is a remarkable example of Non conformist architecture. He recommended the octagonal shape to avoid conflict with the established church. The chapel was later expanded so becoming an elongated octagon. On the right is the Church Hall built about 100 years after the Chapel.

After some kind of winter-sleeping, i finally had a people-shooting again yesterday. This is one of our last results and i really loved it because i'ts so different from my usual style.

A little bit of mystery, a lot of romanticism, backlight... just the things i love :D

This is my 5th and final Fog shot of the LFE in San Francisco last November. I'd tried to compose each scene differently with each having unique lighting condition and perspective. This one is just before the Sun rises and I studied the movement of the fog to get it to a level to show almost deck level of the bridge and also the fog rolling thru the trees in the foreground to give it a unique look. Man, the blanket of fog is so thick and massive that it seems to go on forever.

This is a 20 second exposure to get the smooth flowing movement of the fog layer with a 6 stop ND filter.

This is Lunn's Tower, built in the 14th century, which seems to have survived the Civil War pretty well.

This old stump has caught my eye on several occasions but nothing ever panned out. I tried a few shots of it last winter and failed miserably. Turns out I had the wrong lens for the job.
