Number 25 in my Project 50.

I literally threw this together in 5 minutes after getting in. I had a great evening out, having a few drinks with @simianstudios, @therulebook & the @standardistas. Lots to talk about and plenty of stories from the past.

It got me thinking about the industry on the walk home, hence this came about.

I wanted to use my flash, and also do a self portrait... along with the ideas from this evening, it all got me thinking.

I think I have found out that this is a Needlefish - Ablennes hans

I think this was the third pair of jazz shoes I bought to wear to work. Sometime in the mid 1980s. My first two pair had, by then, oversized sole holes.

I can't read the brand any more, just Made in England and size 6 1/2. I recall they were snug at first, but quickly stretched. The soles were thin rubber with a stiff foam heel, not the leather soles of my Capezios, the first two pair I had. The rubber soles wore through in a few weeks, but the insoles are quite durable leather. The left leather insole has not worn through in something like 40 or more years of wear, much of it with no outsole to protect it.

The rubber soles, in addition to wearing through, hardened and have mostly crumbled away. The insoles originally were glued to the inside of the uppers but have now peeled loose. A little glue and a couple of staples hold them together just enough to keep them on my feet. I like them that way.

Inspiring rust, peeling paint on trains - photos taken in winter of 2007 but waiting until just the special time to share - Enjoy :>)
