DIY-Zine with my photographs by Evgeniy Stepanets

4300 block N. Clark St., Chicago, Ill.

Story Summary:

SARAJEVO, BOSNIA - After war broke out in the former Yugoslavia, the United Nations tried to broker peace by establishing so called "safe areas" or demilitarized zones for civilians. One of which was the city of Srebrenica. It was here that the about 500 Dutch Peacekeepers surrendered their weapons to Serbian troops without a fight. This allowed the Serbs to commit genocide against the defenseless Bosnian-Muslims, killing around 10,000 people in just a few days. The surviving victims want to forgive and move on, but Serbs are still attacking them when they try to move back home. The victims have gotten tired of genocide being committed against them in peacetime and have setup a protest camp to bring awareness to their cause.

Light from the setting sun highlights a sign at the entrance to the Camp for Surviving Victims of Genocide-Srebrenica in Sarajevo, Bosnia. The camp is designed as a form of peaceful protesting to get back control of their hometowns taken from them through genocide.

Asking Price $516,000.---- Wow!
