Met resisted de Menezes inquiry
Scotland Yard "initially resisted" the independent police watchdog leading the inquiry into the fatal shooting by police of innocent Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes, it was confirmed today.
This is the turnoff from the Guadalajara-Mexico City freeway to Irapuato. This section and town of La Piedad where we ate lunch is actually in Michoacan, the northenmost corner of the state.
Did I mention it's legal for passengers to drink alcohol in the car? Only the driver has to remain sober...Viva Mexico!

Gene & Marianne are appraisers of music ephemera. Here we're reading a letter from Eleanor Roosevelt to Leopold Mannes, who was a composer who also was one of the two inventors of Kodachrome. The letter is inviting the Mannes' to a party she is having for Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Lash -- who later became her biographer.
Gene was sorting letters by content -- into a music pile and a photography pile.
