Last Tuesday's 1Q47 plain line test train is seen at Salterbeck behind 37175.
This was most definitely not the shot I had intended.
I had yet to phot' this particular 37 and knowing it was on the front of this train tempted me out, despite the so-so forecast.
At one point it was running quite early and I arrived at the location in bright sunshine and set up a rather nifty "in the landscape" shot which I hadn't done before.
Unfortunately it then became apparent that the train would end up back in its original path and that's when the cloud started rolling in.
It was then necessary to move closer to the subject as the planned shot wouldn't work in the dull.
Sod's Law that the clouds parted just enough to light the subject as it hoved into view but there was no time to get back to the original spot so I was literally well and truly shafted.
This was the Burton On Trent (Wetmore Sidings) to Carlisle, the point of origin being used in lieu of Derby R.T.C apparently due to ongoing works at the latter.
Test shot of my cellular phone "SoftBank 912T by Toshiba".
This situation may be hard to take photo by phone camera.
But it gave me a nice result.
Testing some newly wired up LEDs in the Hall grounds with Von Lodz as the model. Odd how nobody came over to ask what we were doing. It was almost as if they thought we were peculiar folk up to dubious shenanigans.
To prove I'm not a *total* sooc snob, this one has been RAW converted.
Another test from the other night, will be doing my first real shoot on the backdrop tomorrow, should be interesting!
3 test shots from this morning I just bought a omd1-mk1 to use while my mk2 is away for repair and as a back up/jans when it returns OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

-- Testing this relatively inexpensive Nikon gear by shooting into the sun w/o a hood. The Nikkor-H is the 50mm lens that is a 'hidden gem' -- big quality, low price -- but this one is the predecessor, having fewer elements.

December 1988 New Class 91 No 91008 departs towards Doncaster with a test train in IC Livery and blunt end first.
My old point-and-shoot Canon camera broke suddenly and I bought a new Canon SLR.
I bought these cakes just for testing my camera, haha.
The ferry will turn up a few hors later around the time of the next passenger train, here is the test train arriving at a quiet Fishguard Harbour. 43013 and 43062 on 1q15 Landore - Derby.

Veliki Draški vrh is not a difficult summit and is for ski touring also a very nice one. But on this ascent we were in doubts if snow stability is safe enough for the summit ascent. In 2085 we still didn't have any standard equipment (shovel, etc.), so my friend was using skis to cut a block of snow to test it. Anyway, we turned around and still had a nice ski tour. (dia scan)
Roman sculptor : "Head of a Satyr" (17th century), white marble.
The expression on the face and the turn of the head replicate those of the "Laughing Satyr" herm from the era of Hadrian which Johann Joachim Winckelmann, a student of Classical antiquities, argued in 1763 was based on an original by Praxiteles. In this head, the pointed ears, the hair spiking upwards, the "unclassical" profile and the smile revealing the crature's teeth all testify to this feral nature. The head, whose features recal Bernini's style, differs from the Classical depictions of Satyrs in the room in the more sophisticated and subtle treatment of the marble seen, for instance, in the handling of the hair.
For the second week, 4215 has the task of leading an MMC test extra out onto the RVL. They made a quick run west to Queen, changed ends, and followed the eastbound train back while making a simulated station stops. Just before noon, 4215, 4904 "Boris", and two Comets run east under the high Summer Sun.
