...a new camera...finally. I had my heart set on a dslr, but since I can't afford one at the moment, I dropped a few bucks on a Nikon Coolpix 530, which is considered a bridge camera, bridging the gap between p&s and dslr. I'm sure for most of you, this camera would be a huge step down, but for me, it's a huge upgrade. Like moving from a shack into a nice 3 bedroom house...not the mansion I wanted, but enough comforts to keep me content for now ;-)

I like the fact that there is a macro attachment I could order for this camera. Also has manual settings, along with a descent zoom. And one of my favorites...the lens is not scratched lol! My old little camera had a big scratch at the center top of the lens, and a blur spot to the side where a raven pecked it (long story).

I bought this the night before last, spent yesterday shooting...closeups, foliage, the kids...getting to know my way around it. I'm hoping for a nice sunset tonight, but I don't know..the sky looks a little too clear ;-)

I'm off to catch up with everyone. I hope you had a great start to the new week :-)

Not real. Luminar Sky replacement test. Photo actually taken during day. You can make out the distant mountains aren’t masking the sky very well, but overall the Auto Sky replacement works pretty good for one click. The waves would also look very different under a long exposure.

Freshly arrived on ONR's property in Rouyn-Noranda the night before, extra CN Test train 4791 is splitting the decommissioned ABS signals in front of the old T&NO station at Temagami. CN's Test train is just back from a "milk run" in Northern Quebec, having tested the La Tuque, Saint-Maurice, Taschereau, Chapais, Matagami and Val-d'Or subdivisions. The ONR scheduled to test their entire network before handing it back to CN a couple of days later in Hearst.

TGV 4503 - Pizzale - 15.02.2020

A pair of class 37s, unit 37405 with 37407 tailing, approach Derby some 66 minutes early with the 9.50am Canton Taff Vale Sidings - Derby RTC (1Z33) track-testing train.

The early arrival didn't seem to phase the healthy collection of enthusiasts on the station eager to get up close and personal to these 60yo machines. The train stopped here for a few minutes before reversing in to Network Rail's 'Research and Technical Centre', a few hundred yards out of sight on the left.

Comments off, thanks.

Testing a new lens, not as sharp as I’d hope for its first use but totally my fault. I was in aperture priority instead of manual and the shutter was a little slow for handheld. This is my default test location, it’s close to the house.

got some new lights this week, trying them out tonight.

BNSF's RSP38-2 moves around the Westwood yard and onto the main. Crews were testing it to make sure it works in case it is needed later in the season.

Just trying to get higher and higher resolution. Required a LOT more editing xD

Metra MPI MP36PH-3S 402 was out and about on a joy ride shortly after delivery. It was passing the Stone Avenue stop on the BNSF Chicago Subdivision in 2003.

BNSF wasn't impressed with these things and Metra eventually reassigned them to other lines.

A dial test indicator consists of a gauge; on the gauge is a pin level mounted on a spring. When the pin contacts a surface, pressure forces the pin lever up, causing the dial gauge to move. Numbers marked on the perimeter of the dial test indicator display the amount of pressure applied to the pin lever.
