Very high winds and wet weather during our visit in November 2012 grounded the DHFS AS350 fleet for a day or two.
Some permanent Mt Eden bus stops became temporary from 27th to 30th December for some unknown reason. I sure hope they do become permanent again!
This guy came and visited with me on the front porch for a while this afternoon, and he had a number on his collar so I called it.
His owner was thrilled to hear he was alright and safe but couldn't pick him up right away. So he's visiting with me for the evening, and it's kind of fun having a cat for just a little while. He hasn't peed on anything and he's mostly just kind of purred and sniffed things. Goooood kitty.
Went out for some night shooting with Jack Azar . He has a art opening in SLO next month, I want to go check it out. It was a pretty good time except for the times when waves almost got our cameras.
Village men working together to construct a temporary shelter from corrugated iron after the great earthquake in Kumpur village, Dhadhing, Nepal. The previously-constructed rustic shelter with a roof of leaves covered by a plastic tarp can be seen in the background.
I thought I'd attempt and post an artistic picture...instead I accidentally discovered what it looks like when I am temporarily derendered
I didn't care much whether the fencing was temporary or not. I was more concerned that I was walking across this giant bridge that apparently had inadequate seismic protection.
Taz can be absolutely endearing - rare moment when he isn't yacking and doesn't he look like a little angel of innocence.
nessas horas é que eu penso se não devia ter um plano B pra email, backups mais urgentes e lista de contatos...

When it rains on the north end of Cascade Mountain many of the little slot canyons leading off of Provo Canyon develop some pretty dramatic "temporary waterfalls" Most of these falls disappear during the summer and freeze during the winter. This plunging falls is about 400 yards north of the Upper Bridal Veil Falls. All of these falls including Bridal Veil feed the Provo River.
Some or all of these falls may have names but they are unknown to me. If you know please comment and add the name. Thanks.
On the outskirts of Soweto we passed this village of corrugated iron homes. A passer by informed us that this is temporary housing for a nearby squatter camp. Once th people have been moved into here, the squatter camp will be destroyed and proper housing and roads built on the squatter camp site. In terms of the South African Constitution everyone has the right to basic housing, so squatters cannot be evicted off land they have occupied unless the government provides alternative housing.
