After 47500 caught fire in the Manchester area, it was taken to the Museum Of Science and Industry (MOSI) to be out of the way until it could be collected by road vehicle. I think could still smell the burnt paint.

The newly restored lions from the fountain in the Court of the Lions were on temporary display whilst restoration continued on their normal location. Unfortunately photography was restricted here as the work had not yet been published!
Granada is synonymous with it's greatest monument, the Alhambra Palace. One of the greatest works of Islamic architecture in existence, the palace complex contains a series of richly decorated rooms and courtyards unparalled for their rich non-figurative decoration, representing the very best in Arab/Islamic art and craftsmanship.
Built in the mid 14th century the palace was home to the Nasrid Dynasty, the last Moorish rulers in Spain, prior to the final reconquest of los Reyes Catolicos, Ferdinand and Isabella. Following their victory in Granada the palace continued for some time as a royal residence, though some parts were lost in alterations and additions by suceeding generations, including Carlos V who built his unfinished Renaissance palace on part of the complex. After centuries of neglect the buildings were restored in the 19th century and are now celebrated as amongst the World's highest architectural achievements.
Most of the main rooms are open to the public, though some areas were closed for restoration on this most recent visit. The most significant areas are the Hall of the Ambassadors with it's fine wooden ceiling, the Courtyard of the Lions and the two breathtaking domed chambers that flank the courtyard with their spectacular domed 'stalactite' ceilings.

I have a wicked nesting urge, I tell you what. When I went away with the Ramps I set up camp in the dormitory part of the girl guide camp. While they made music I sat here with Kristeva making knowledge. Knowledge is cool, right?
I was toying with light blanching an dthe effects of shadow. I really love how these shots came out. He's forcing himself not to squint just so that you know you have his full attention. Now whatr' you gonna do...

I didn't want anyone to think we'd let our cats continue to live in such inhumane conditions as portrayed in my recent photo. We went out and got them the biggest basket we could find. At their current growth rate, this will fit them for maybe two months if we're lucky.
This dock leads to an islet [it's what the sign said 0.o] but it was temporarily closed! ): I remember this it was pretty sweet to be standing on an island looking at an island...
I spend much of my time exploring the countryside surrounding my home deep in Northamptonshire.
These highly individual and unique landscapes are my interpretation of the wetlands, forests, valleys and public footpaths of this ‘forgotten’ shire. Northamptonshire is place steeped in history and beauty, which I have accessed in order to create these paintings. The acrylic compositions are sometimes representative of real places but are also distillations of memories and ideas about what a landscape means to me.
I work by developing ideas in a sketchbook and taking photographs before moving onto canvas or specially prepared papier-mâché, impasto surfaces. Although my ideas are planned in a sketchbook – colours, textures, patterns and successive layers occur in a natural, intuitive way. This reflects the idea of a journey or walk through a landscape observing the sights around you. Every following visit adds a new layer to the aesthetic.
Through repeated visits to areas of special interest and then making artworks about them I have become more fascinated and inspired by their beauty. The works focus on how the countryside evolves and is shaped by human action through time.
As with many of my contemporaries my interests and concerns also lie with the state of the environment. The pollution of the environment and the disappearing countryside are elements, which can overwhelmingly seem out of normal peoples control. For this reason the paintings can be seen as memories or fading dreams of lands without roads, noise or other pollution. But I hope that these landscape paintings represent an optimistic reminder of natural beauty in the world that makes us feel free and truly ourselves.
