Cutting Down Cabinet Boxes
This crossbar was clamped across the front of the cabinet to keep it rigid while it was being sawn down.

Shops are mostly closed for the weekend save for one or two and they get to enjoy the fruits of a temporary monopoly. This shop sells household stuff such as kitchenware, I think, in Tiong Bahru Market, which is usually a hive of activity.
Long talked about, controversial, previously crooked, Muni is now getting down to work on how to build a subway directly from Caltrain to Union Square and Chinatown along Fourth Street.
If we're still in the same office in a few years, it should be fun to watch the construction.

This building is on the Mansfield side of the old pub. It used to sell pizzas and local produce and is now used as the temporary pub. There is no sign of building going on.
Landslip on West Coast Railway Line
The landslip is a couple of miles to the north of Leighton Buzzard and is at a location where Network Rail have got a lot of work to do just to get at the site. This afternoon their contractor Murphy was busy building a temporary roadway.
The land to the east side of the railway has slipped away leaving the London bound line (Up Slow) unsafe to use meaning that all Up trains have to use the Fast line.

We all have these moments - just when everything is going great, something dampens our enthusiasm. In full bloom, this paint brush didn't expect a dump of cold, wet snow
those are not for real. yet. Last night I kissed Mark goodnight while he was doing work late at night and went to the bathroom. I couldn't help it, had to do a 'test run' to see if I'd like having dreads because I've been thinking about getting them for a long time. I didn't have a comb and my memory of instructions was at least 6 months old, but it was enough for doing non-permanent dreads in the front (my hair in the back is still normal). The roots are funky and not tight, doesn't bother me though since these will have to be taken out later anyway...
The verdict? I like'em! One of the main reasons why I wanted to do a test run was to see if I'd be ok with wearing a wrap with dreads because usually I don't like my forehead completely uncovered. Wearing a wrap with normal hair looked strange to me, but with dreads it just *works*.
So there you go, a preview of what I'll probably be doing with my hair in a month or two.
The fleeting blooms of my irises are a natural reminder that everything is temporary - you know, live in the moment, etc.

Opened up the mail-order wife with a plastic knife and she mp3'd.

Laid down the terrycloth on the astro-turf.
Set up the paper plates, the inflatable dates, for a rewinded picnic.
Can't keep a love like this just anywhere.
Gotta keep a love like this in tupperware.
It's temporary living for a temporary life.
Wolverhampton Bus Station was being rebuilt so routes had to use nearby roads at the time of this 12/1/11 photo, with 4765 working amongst the ALX Tridents on route 529 from Walsall.
If there is one thing that can be said about the weather in June, it is: unpredictable! We've had typical Midsummer weather - sun, blue sky with not a cloud in sight, clouds, even darker clouds, rain, heavy rain, gales... Only hails and thundering are missing now.
We were lucky at some point yesterday, so we all took out an old carpet on the lawn and enjoyed the sun and summer :)

In early November we made a very special trip in the mountains as we walked 2 hours in the dark and then spent the night in a so-called "cave hotel". Ther are 3 such places in the Bükk, all of which were converted into basic shelters by enthusiastic hikers decades ago. This one is now in very good condition and as the weather was fine, we really had no problems at all.
November elején egy nagyon különleges kirándulást tettünk a hegyekben. Először gyalogoltunk pár órát a sötétben, utána pedig egy barlangszálláson aludtunk (Háromúti). Három ilyen van a Bükkben, mindegyiket lelkes természetjárók alakították át egyszerű szálláshellyé évtizedekkel ezelőtt. Ez a barlang most nagyon jó állapotban van, és mivel az idő is nagyon jó volt, semmi problémánk nem volt, nagyon jól éreztük magunkat.
