The statue of Peter Stuyvesant by Massey Rind was ripped off of its pedestal in Bergen Square by the Board of Education and earmarked to be installed in this small park a block away. Unusal for Jersey City there was a public uproar and the city announced plans to recreate the original 1910 base in Bergen Square, the historic center of the city. For now the sculpture has been restored and is currently occupying the place the Board intended it to. Keep in mind the temporary Guastavino tile dome at St. John the Divine was completed in 1909 and is still there.
Today, E. Sunset Way is supported by a temporary wall made of soil, high density fabric and rock. Crews will replace the temporary wall with a permanent, concrete wall to support the wider roadway.

Built 1882-1883, to replace the previous capitol which had burned in 1881. Until the building was completed the orphaned Texas government conducted business in the county courthouse and jail across Congress Avenue.
The three-story brick building- third Texas Capitol in Austin- was used five years. During this time it witnessed the passage of strong legislation to aid education and halt fence-cutting, which in 1883, had exploded into a range war. Governors John Ireland (1883-1887) and Sue Ross (1887-1891) both served in this building.
In 1883, the University of Texas held classes here for its 218 students until campus facilities were complete. On another occasion cattle baron Charles Goodnight loaded $100,000 in cash in a wheel barrow and, had it hauled to the Capitol to force settlement of a land dispute but officials refused his offer.
After the present Capitol was finished, 1888, this structure was used as home of Austin High School. Studios for music teachers, and for various offices. When it burned, Sept. 30, 1899, curious spectators sat on the fence around the new Capitol to watch volunteer firemen hampered by low water pressure fight the blaze. The old building was razed soon after and the bricks were used in structures throughout Austin. (1967) (Marker No. 17408)

Once you have been granted entry clearance under this category, you will be eligible to extend your
stay in the UK for a period of 24 months under creative category and 12 months under sports person
category. Under this category if you leave the UK for more than 6 months period you will need to
apply for entry clearance with same or new sponsor.
Applicants will also be required to fulfill requirement of maintenance and accommodation under this
category.
Tier 5 (Temporary worker - charity workers)
Applicants under this category are allowed to come to the UK for a period of 12 months – during
their stay in the UK; applicants can carry out unpaid work. However applicants will need the sponsor
to provide certificate of sponsorship. Further maintenance and accommodation requirement also
needs to be fulfilled by the applicant

Friday, May 1 -- a temporary installation by Hunt Clark, a 2009 KMA Contemporary Focus artist, at Fluorescent Gallery (627 N Central St, Knoxville).
Contemporary Focus is a new series of lectures, workshops, and
exhibitions dedicated to new, adventurous art being developed in
Knoxville. The inaugural lineup presents three artists who are
exploring a wide range of ideas across a range of media: Hunt Clark,
Patricia Tinajero, and David Wolff. Over the coming months, each
Contemporary Focus artist will develop artwork for a group exhibition
at the KMA, present lectures about their work, and host studio visits.
The series is designed to foster an ongoing conversation between
artists and the public.
The Knoxville Museum of Art is strongly committed to providing diverse
audiences with unique opportunities for learning and personal growth.
Contemporary Focus provides an important opportunity for artists in
Knoxville to engage a wider public and encourages interaction between
artists and their community.

This mobile mobile phone mast (!) was erected to help cope with the demand for communication in this area. When we arrived the network was not responding. Initially, the Libyan border guards had been confiscating phones as the refugees crossed the borders and some had them stolen. However, gradually some got through with them and Telecoms Sans Frontier were reportedly on site providing phone services and charging points. This mast provided the additional capacity needed to allow refugees to get in touch with relatives at home. - and some facebook addicts amongst the volunteers to keep their friends and relatives informed!
