Sea-bass tartare with ricotta cheese, pine kernels and spinach salad

 

The first of our selected dishes at io Osteria Personale. This was pretty simple, but it was very tasty and fresh.

Carrot w/ Apple, Quail Egg, Chive, Wasabi Pea, Mustard Seed, Fluer de Sel, Pickled Ginger, Sunflower Seed, Cayenne & Brown Mustard

Another favorite summer treat.

 

I'm telling you, if you're in Chicago and want good sushi, Kaze is your place. For YEARS that storefront went empty and now it's one of the best places to get sushi in town.

 

After sushi at a place like this, I finally understood the difference between the sushi I'd been eating for years out of a stripfront mall space and, you know, good sushi.

"beetroot, mushrooms, egg yolk, charcoal brioche"

 

One of 4 "snacks" (I would call them appetisers, from the lunch set).

 

Served, resembling some sort of jewelry.

It was too pretty to chomp into.

 

The raw minced beef was plenty tasty and the brioche base was a nice logical touch to help absorb away any excess juices or marination, usually with some grated horseradish.
