A DIY audio electronics development platform. Very easy to plug things in and out of the breadboards and Arduino (duemilanove). Seeed Studio oscilloscope has proven to be a worthy tool. Now cooking: an arduino synthesizer, based on some simple waveform tables, homemade 8-bit DAC and bitwise modulation. Basically same as this but now much neater. Audio and video demos coming up, soon maybe... Here's an old demo, this one sounds roughly the same.

The PLL is an analog harmonizer that turns an input signal into a square wave and then has a multiplier and divider that adds intervals to the note.

The Stylophone - An incredible mini-sized synthesizer that's played with a small pen. I was so happy to find it on the fleamarket yesterday, especially because I own an instructional 7inch record from the late 60ies that advertises the advantages of this "greatest invention in the world of music, ever". A few months ago I made a re-edit of that record to enhance the ridiculousness of the content even more. Now after having listened to the record for so many hours I hold the original piece in my very hands. It sounds as awful as on the 7inch and is so much fun to play with.

Meek FM

Typographic Synthesizer

We had the chance (and honor!) to exhibit the typographic snythesizer Meek FM developed by Rob Meek and Frank Müller. The combination of a custom built hardware controller and software generates new shapes and sounds out of pre-installed typeface vectors.

Like a real musical synthesizer the Meek FM can shape and modify forms (+ sounds) with several parameters. This device shows that there are still a lot of untouched possibilies in realtime graphical instruments.
