The four voices. You should be able to make out most of the ICs in this photo. Inside the Electron Analog Four 4 voice analog synthesizer.

I could make out a number of chips in the full size version of this photo. Including:

Coolaudio V2164 (their version of the SSM2164) Voltage Controlled Amplifier.

www.coolaudio.com/docs/datasheet/V2164MD_DATASHEET.pdf

There are two of those per voice (presumably one per oscillator?) plus another that may be he overall amplifier.

Two parts that are all over, but which don't appear to have public part numbers:

TI HJ4051 26KG4 AKTS

TI TO64 2AKG4 C550

I wouldn't think that Elektron is large enough to get custom numbered chips, so maybe I'm just unlucky in searching. Those two ICs are pretty much every chip in the voice, so I assume they are matched transistors, op-amps, or similar. I don't believe the HJ4051 is a CD4051, as it wouldn't make any sense to have that many multiplexors in there.

NXP HC373 Octal latches

www.mouser.com/ds/2/302/74HC_HCT373_3-50614.pdf

Up near the MIDI I/O there's a 6N137 opto isolator. I use 6N138 on my own designs. One really interesting aspect of their design here is that the two of the four MIDI ports can be used as DIN sync, which has a completely different pinout.

I opened a second time for some close-ups, so there are other photos in this set with closer shots.

From Wikipedia: Switched-On Bach is a musical album by Wendy Carlos (originally released under the name of Walter Carlos) and Benjamin Folkman, produced by Carlos and Rachel Elkind and released in March 1968 by Columbia Masterworks Records. It played a key role in popularizing classical music performed on electronic synthesizers, which had until then been relegated to experimental and "pop" music. This fostered a significant increase in interest in electronically rendered music in general, and the Moog synthesizer in particular.

Switched-On Bach was one of the first classical albums to sell 500,000 copies. Entering Billboard's pop Top 40 charts on March 1, 1969, it climbed quickly to the Top 10; it stayed in the Top 40 for 17 weeks, and in the Top 200 for more than a year. In the 1969 Grammy Awards, the album took three prizes: Best Classical Album, Best Classical Performance – Instrumental Soloist or Soloists (with or without orchestra) and Best Engineered Classical Recording.

Inside the Electron Analog Four 4 voice analog synthesizer. Well, this is the *outside*.

Note that all six screws holding the panel down were installed at slight angles, so each of them bit into the paint a little. You can't correct this as it's the tapping which is off. An irritating but very minor detail.

Inside the Electron Analog Four 4 voice analog synthesizer. The chip in the center is 16mb memory (link in another photo here)

The MR4A16B chip is 16mb memory as previously identified (see other photos)

The STM29W64DF8 is 64MBit of flash memory

The Toshiba chip on the right is a 2 gigabyte flash card

That's a lot of flash on board here for just sequences and patches. Not sure if some contains the program code, or if that is on the MCU.

The Micron chip appears to be 512Mbit SDRAM

Elektron Analog Four Teardown

A very rare Buchla 249e Dual Arbitrary Function Generator. If that name is confusing , think of it as two , massively programable , 24 step sequencers. The user programable probability that each step will fire is just one of the neat features. It can also be addressed horizontally and vertically (across it's circular shape) with an applied voltage.
