7528 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood CA.
This sign was removed on 9/28/18, and is apparently the Museum of Neon Art now has it in its collection.
The red and golden colours of this sunset is just amazing.
This is a view taken through the branches of a tree.
It looks more abstract with the silhouettes of the branches.
I see more sunrises than sunsets, must try to catch more sunsets.
Have a great Sunday!
Thanks for all our views, comments and fav.

In December, I tried to get a different take of a personal favorite of mine from June, except this time with the Muppet Balloon as the background. With the 70-200, the angle for this required me to lie on the ground. Probably an odd sight, but whatever.

With Star Wars Weekends less than a month away, and more importantly, the soft opening previews of Star Tours 2 likely to begin in a matter of weeks, I’m pretty excited about all things “Star Wars” right now, and admittedly, I’m not even a Star Wars fan.
Behind the scenes at the TouringPlans.com and StudiosCentral.com headquarters, a dedicated team of Disney and Star Wars geeks (although we prefer the term “afficionados”) have been putting working on several new projects to cover the Star Tours 2 soft openings and official opening. Check out www.StarTours2Live.com for the galactic details!

Hi and Welcome back to the Walt Disney World Top 30 Must Sees, the countdown that focuses on the top 30 things that Sarah and I are looking forward to doing on our August trip to Walt Disney World.
What's the best way to get to an Aerosmith concert? Find out over at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Tired after the show? VIP guests of Aerosmith stay at the luxurious Hollywood Tower Hotel, within walking distance of the concert venue. Free continental breakfast included (that is, if the dude next to you volunteers a protein spill on your lap!)
The cornerstone attractions of Disney's Hollywood Studios are Rock 'n' Rollercoaster and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Our touring strategy has shifted a bit since the introduction of Toy Story Mania, but our favorite early morning attractions at the Studios are still Tower of Terror and RnRC. You just can't beat that mist as you approach the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Apart from its exceptional Disney Details, Tower of Terror is also a personal favorite for me due to my affection for the show The Twilight Zone. As I was growing up, I watched Twilight Zone every day of the summer at noon and 11 p.m. on the Sci Fi channel. With the exception of a few of the hour long episodes, I have seen every episode of the show (my favorite episode is "The Howling Man" for those fans who are curious). As a fan, I really appreciate the details in the attraction from various episode, which are especially prominent as your elevator returns to its shaft and you exit. If you've never been a fan of the Twilight Zone, it might be worth it to watch some episodes just to appreciate all of the details in the attraction!
Like any true red-blooded American, I like rock and roll music (sorry Toby Keith and Nelly fans, country and rap are lame). Within that genre, Aerosmith is a mainstay, and hearing that sweet beat to Walk This Way pumps me up every time. Although Twilight Zone is too scary for Sarah, like my brave little trooper, she goes on Tower of Terror with me--and loves it--but Rock 'n' Rollercoaster is truly her attraction. She also is a good American, and thus is an Aerosmith fan. Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, as she says, "gets her in the zone" for the long day ahead. Like with so many previous attractions we've listed on the countdown, both of these also inspire us to break into spontaneous, and terribly off-beat, humming and jamming, and they always energize us for the long day ahead. I swear we aren't actually as obnoxious as we come across here.
KEEP OUT!

With a lot of mixed emotions I have to take a break for a while because our workload has increased unbelievably. We've been praying for this for 2.5 years during "The Great Recession", and now it's starting. However, it really cuts into the time I have for Flickr and even processing photos. I have about 600 untouched shots that have been sitting since January that I just can't get to.
I'll try to visit photostreams and post when I can, but I can't keep up with the daily posts like I have been - at least for a little while.
Of course, things could fall off the cliff again and we could be sitting around with nothing but time on our hands; I don't try to predict the future anymore, but if the schedule remains like it has the last 3 months, things are definitely looking up for our business.
I will visit as much as I can, but the next 30 days look pretty jammed for me. Talk to you soon! :)

Toy Story Mania
Hypothetically, let's say Toy Story Mania is a walk-on ALL day for one day of your trip. On all other days of your current trip and any subsequent trips, it will have its regular, crazy-long lines. On that particular day, do you visit any other attraction(s)?
I would only ride Toy Story Mania. Sarah and I are ultra-competitive, and beating her at this game so many times in one day would not get old or boring. While TSM isn't my favorite attraction at the Studios (Tower of Terror), I could always do my other favorites at the Studios on this non-hypothetical no-lines-for-TSM day.
So what would you do?

Late for Bokeh Wednesday... I missed on the focus a little on this shot, but I still liked the abstract look it provides. These are the marbles on the doors in the queue of Rock 'N' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.
Bokeh
Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light. Differing amounts of spherical aberration alter how lenses render out-of-focus points of light, and thus their bokeh. The word "bokeh" comes from the Japanese word "boke" (pronounced bo-keh) which literally means fuzziness or dizziness.

This is one of those shots where the 50mm prime forced me to really think about composition. I've seen a picture a few times where the giant guitar from Aerosmith's Rock N Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror are composed in the same picture. 50mm is too close for this shot and since I didn't have my wits about me to do a panorama, I instead wondered what else can I place in front of the Hollywood Tower Hotel that I haven't already done before. Which is about when I discovered this flower bed around the Aerosmith guitar...

Quick Fact:
Hollywood Tower, originally known as La Belle Tour, is a large apartment building in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. The tower, built in 1929, was a popular residence for entertainment industry employees for many years and has often been cited as the inspiration for Disney's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror rides. The real-life Hollywood Tower was listed in the National Register of Historical Places in 1988.
The very first night of my trip was extended magic for Hollywood Studios which meant that would be the park I'd be closing out that night. This worked out really well as I was itching to get shots of the Chinese Theater anyway.
The first day, at least for me and my wife, is always the most tiring however and she decided to head back to the hotel around 8 to charge up for the rest of the trip. I of course used this as an opportunity to wander around for 2 1/2 hours BEFORE the park had even closed shooting. The problem this presents however is all the people still in the park can limit the shots you can get if you want relatively people free shots. Not to be deterred I decided to utilize the Nikon 70-200 2.8 which allowed me to try out some more creative compositions throughout the park using various angles to get interesting shots people free even with the park quite crowded. This was actually one of the very first ones I tried and perhaps my favorite of the night. Enjoy.

...Unfortunately, I had to go behind the BAH to get it!
This is a shot that I wasn't going to post because I was going to try to do it better next time. I got this particular shot basically "on the run" as we went entered the Great Movie Ride, and I had to use a high ISO, low shutter speed, and for some reason, I overexposed the shot (usually in those circumstances, I intentionally underexpose). Also, I was too lazy to get on the ground, which is what I wish I had done, and in typical Bricker fashion, this shot was about as crooked as a New Jersey politician (if anyone saw my RAW files before I straighten them, they'd think I was always heavily intoxicated when taking pictures; I may do a poor job of straightening, but I still do straighten just about every shot...they are much worse prior to my feeble attempts at fixing them).
I decided to post it because I really like it despite those criticisms, and you never know if the "next" version will work out, or be as good. Maybe the beams won't be visible? Maybe the clouds won't look cool. You never know!
...Oh, and mom, this is the second of two shots posted on a SATURDAY. Don't complain that I rarely post on weekends!

Architectural detail of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction at the end of Sunset Boulevard in DHS aka the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
For this shot I was trying to use the road to lead the eye up to the Tower of Terror. While this left less room at the top to show off the sky I think I prefer this as the frame feels less empty. Once again shot with the 70-200 2.8 which was on my camera this trip more than any other lens. The way it performs makes it hard to want to switch it out even though my first love will always be ultra wide photography. Enjoy.

Yet another photo I dug up going through my library. I think I overlooked it because it is pretty dull looking straight out of camera, but with a bit of editing the colors I think are really great. Thanks for looking everyone!

I've struggled with capturing the elements of the Rock-n-Roller Coaster in a style this is unique to me. I think I succeed with a couple of shots. This is the first one.
Big Ones is a compilation album by the American rock band Aerosmith, released on November 1, 1994. Big Ones is the band's second bestselling compilation album, reaching #6 on the Billboard charts, and selling four million copies in the United States alone. The album quickly became a world-wide hit reaching the Top 10 in nine countries. [wiki]

My attempt here was to draw the eye towards the subject, which (hopefully) is obviously the upside down car, with the “s curve”. In order to do this you have to step way back and use a telephoto lens for perspective compression. I'm not sure if the result works, but I * think * that the swoop of the lines formed by the “track” are pleasing to the eye, plus I really liked the colors of the picture.
A little about the processing of this shot. I started in NX2, which I haven't used in WAY too long, and did all the colors and levels in there. I saved one with the warm colors that are seen throughout the picture, and one with a much cooler temperature for the car. I layered the cool temp picture on top of the warm one and using a layer mask, brought just the color of the car through in Paint Shop Pro.
I also did some selective sharpening with the “Topaz Detail 2” plug-in, using some masking to only apply the sharpening to certain parts (most notably the car).
After that I imported the image in to Photoshop Elements 9 (downloaded the trial edition yesterday, just to check out “content aware fill”). I used the content aware heal brush to get rid of several distractions like wires, poles and cables. Overall I was very happy with the content aware capabilities and will probably buy PSE just for that alone. One thing it did not succeed at, however, was getting rid of the palm branch and leaves near the top right of the “track”. I had to use PSP's good ol' clone brush with some masking to make this look good.
After that a little bit of dodge and burn, and channel mixer for colors, and there you have it.
Total process took me a little over an hour.

Just your average, run of the mill shot of the entrance to Rock 'N' Rollercoaster in Disney's Hollywood Studios. I tried flipping the image so the car was right side up and pondered posting that.. buttttttt.. after the most intense internal struggle ever, I decided not to!
Okay, the decision wasn't that hard. I wanted to stick to the basics and obtain a classic shot for this one.
Hope you enjoy!
