At Disney's Hollywood Studios, in the Sunset Boulevard area of the park, is a dark roller coaster themed after the rock band Aerosmith. Basically, you are a guest to an Aerosmith concert and were chosen to ride in a limo for first class transportation from the recording studios to the concert. The limo turns out to be a roller coaster train. The roller coaster starts out by going around the corner and stopping at a stop light before counting down and BLASTING into the roller coaster - going zero to sixty in something like 2 seconds. It's a very well themed roller coaster and a favorite among many WDW guests. Oh, also the roller coaster train headrests have built in speakers that play slightly altered versions of the most popular Aerosmith hits. This picture is from the queue right where the roller coaster loads. It is supposed to be a parking garage...

Perhaps not quite as glamorous as the one slightly to the south of Calgary.... With brisk Chinook winds making outdoor adventures less fun, we decided to do a little drive to Sundre, Alberta. We drove west to Cochrane first, then headed north on Highway 22 (The Cowboy Trail) to Sundre. We returned via Highway 2a which parallels the Queen Elizabeth Highway (Highway 2).
A gold 1941 Cadillac Series 62 displayed on Sunset Boulevard at Disney's Hollywood Studios. It fits in perfectly with the theming of the art deco stores down the "street".
Since I was in the vicinity, I decided to walk down to Sunset via Vine Street and check out the Cinerama Dome.
The Cinerama Dome was named a national landmark, so there is no chance it would ever be torn down. But the Pacific Theaters company went under during the pandemic, and the doors to it and the Arc Light Theaters adjacent to it, have not yet opened. AMC apparently passed on buying this chain of theaters. So the place (and the Arc Light) remain closed after more than two and a half years.
The theater has been in existence for nearly 60 years. Some of the best films have shown there, many in wide screen formats meant to be seen on a Cinerama screen, even if they were not shot in the original three-panel Cinerama format. That format was great for travelogues and the like, but it was soon discovered that theatrical films -- dramatic films -- didn't work in that format most of the time. Action scenes were all right, though they often had to be shot in 65mm and optically "split" to be seen in the Cinerama format. One such example was "How the West Was Won." I've seen the film many times, either at a regular theater or on TV, but I finally got to see it in the proper Cinerama format over fifteen years ago, at an afternoon matinee. The scenes shot in 65mm were all too obvious compared to the scenes shot in the three-panel format. Still, it was a great experience to see it in Cinerama. And, in the main lobby, a real Cinerama camera was on display, so one could see just what those things actually looked like.
After "How the West Was Won," and "The Wonderful World of The Brothers Grimm," it was decided that any future films made for Cinerama be shot in 65mm, either with spherical lenses, or the 1.25 anamorphic lenses. The latter stretched out the image to become a 2.76 to 1 aspect ratio, the same width as the three-panel Cinerama. The Cinerama name remained on the ads and in the credits, due to a contractual agreement with MGM and UA.
I've read where the Dome either has been bought, or it will be bought soon. But the dates to its reopening are not confirmed; one source said 2023, another said 2024. In any case, it will reopen, which is good news all around.
One more thing: the name "Cinerama" is actually an anagram of the word "American."

Good Morning, I took this shot on my June trip to Walt Disney World. My flight got in and after checking in, I decided to head over to Hollywood Studios. That day had been particularly stormy but the rain stopped right after park closing. I hung around this area until it cleared out and grabbed this shot. I am quite happy with how this came out.

Been working for a couple of days and need to catch up on everybody's streams, which I will do this afternoon. I don't want to miss anything that you've all been up to!
Today's shot is another shot with the Nikon 35 1.4. In addition to the tighter view I get with this lens I love just how natural the scenes look with this lens. Per usual, the main difficulty with any shot that contains neon, is blending the neon correctly from an underexposure. It's tough to get right, and very easy to do wrong. When you get it right though it helps completely sell the image. Finally, I decided to shoot off the road and use the curve of it to give a path for your eyes to follow through the frame.

Colloquially known as 'the 405', the San Diego Freeway is a spur of Interstate 5 and a (very) major north-south freeway in Southern California. It is often known as one of the busiest, most congested freeways in the entire world. Speeds at rush hour average 5-20 mph.
This view looks over the 405/Sunset Boulevard interchange towards Westwood, a sprawling, dense neighborhood of Los Angeles some ten miles from the center of the city.
While in lock down, I'm exploring the empty streets of LA. Guitar Center is located on Sunset in Hollywood. The bars, restaurants and musical venues are shuttered. There is still much to explore.

This shot was taken on a walk I took down Sunset Boulevard. It was midafternoon and I had a wide-open door behind me and the California sun illuminating this scene for me. Otherwise it would have been utterly impossible!

Taken in Saint Martin's Island, Bangladesh.
St. Martin's Island is the most beautiful 'Coral Island' where you will find live corals. Its only 30 km from Teknaf and you can go there by local motorboat, tourist boats, or sea truck.
This small coral island, about 10km (6mi) southwest of the southern tip of the mainland Bangladesh, is a tropical cliché, with beaches fringed with coconut palms and bountiful marine life. There’s nothing more strenuous to do here than soak up the rays, but it’s a clean and peaceful place without even a mosquito to disrupt your serenity.
In this Island, you will find the beautiful Coral reef , long Coral beach and lots of coconut trees. The local name of the coconut is Narikel and the original name of this Island is Narikel Jinjira is derived from that.
