Walt Disney World, Disney's Hollywood Studios - 12/24/09
Detail of Art Deco antique gas pump in the entry area of Disney's Hollywood Studios.
On a cold winter day in Austria the sky full of dynamic drama looked mythic to me. The combination with the awesome sunset colors made this view unique, wonderful and visually pleasing for me.
So much going for this image! The soft, leading sky; the road, the opposing land on either side of the road; the trees reaching for the sky, lining the road.... Just superb! Well done (Ron Breault).

This was one of the most beautiful sunsets that I have witnessed on the East Coast of the United States. As the sun began to sink closer and closer to the Atlantic Ocean it turned various shades of orange, red, and pink until it eventually disappeared out of view. I was at a well known location for these types of sunsets and there were probably 300 people watching it. When the sun finally disappeared into the Ocean, a loud ovation went up from the crowd and people started clapping. A truly inspiring experience! View large for best Sunset experience!
Thank you for stopping by~! Enjoy the evening.

The Riverview is a retro gem of a movie theater in the Longfellow neighborhood of south Minneapolis, Minnesota. Built in 1948, it has cool Art Deco/Streamline Moderne architectural stylings inside and out. The Riverview is one of the few surviving single-screen cinemas in the Minneapolis Saint Paul, MN area. It typically shows second-run films for $2 or $3, an occasional film festival, and has the best popcorn in town.

I was in Los Angeles to attend the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) in January 2020 (oh yeah, that was right before everything turned upside down). On this day, I decided to make the trip to West Hollywood to see what's so big deal about this area, especially on this street, AKA Sunset Strip. And I spotted those people painted the image of The Viper (the black building). It was a fascinating place to see. And the weather was ... PERFECT!!
I'd love to go back there in the future. I will have to make sure I go there during the evening, so I will be able to witness a lot more cool people on the street. ;-)

Yes...I am back at Sunset Boulevard.
- It has been exactly one year has passed, that I have lived here since March 08 after moving in from Dongguan City. This is the place where I called it as my momentory home in this foreign land, and a place for my work assignment and job. Thus I am posting this photo today from a capture done after my first month stay. A view of Bao An District, Shenzhen City. A view from my balcony at the penthouse of my apartment. The view of Sunset Boulevard..............
Have a nice weekend everyone
Revolving around a series of energetic stunts featuring automobiles, the show had its soft opening on March 14, 2005, but had its grand opening on May 5, 2005, as part of the Happiest Celebration on Earth festival at the Walt Disney World Resort, in honor of the very first Disney park, Disneyland, celebrating its fiftieth birthday. One aspect of the festival was each of the four Walt Disney World theme parks receiving a new attraction cloned from another Disney resort; the show was one of the star attractions at the Walt Disney Studios theme park at the Disneyland Resort Paris in France. -Wikipedia
Here's all six members of the
great Hollywood Pin-Up Girls Burlesque troupe
(see www.myspace.com/thehollywoodpinupgirls for
more photos of them - some taken by lucky me-
and to hear some of the music to which they
dance) taken onstage, with the curtain closed,
at the electric El Cid nightclub on
Sunset Boulevard.
I actually only know four of the girls:
from left to right there's Ashley, then
one I don't know, Anne, the other unknown one,
Nikki, and Elizabeth. My photos of both Ashley
and Elizabeth have been posted here
previously.
I had hoped to take a group shot, and
wrote Ashley - who is the one who does most
of the emailing for the group - and who is
quite gracious and sweet - and she
wrote me back and said
that she would make it happen after the
July show - they perform here once a month -
and she did. She came and fetched me
immediately after another erotically-charged,
dynamic, modern, arcane, delightful performance -
and along with my pal Salerno - whose photo with
the girls I previously posted -
I went onstage and took scores of photos of
all six at once.
This was a bit of a photographic lesson for me,
as I had never before tried to take six
simultaneous portraits before. And I discovered
what any photographer of a group discovers:
that it's hard to get one photo in which every
member of the group looks good. But it was
also fascinating to me how all six characters
came across in each photo. Ashley & Elizabeth
looked charming and happy in each and every
photo, while the other girls presented a
panoply of different expressions. This shot is
my favorite, and probably the best I got in
projecting these six individuals, joined
together in their singular burlesque.
As electric
and "sexually frank" (as Salerno put it)
as they are onstage, it is surprising and
sweet to discover that offstage they are
tender and quiet - it's that onstage-offstage
dynamic at the heart of so many performers,
and very much in play
onstage at the El Cid
with the curtains closed
and open.
