The Quiraing, Skye

It was so dull when I arrived and had to sit for 10 minutes before this patch of sunlight flashed across.

The last of the evening sunlight plays on the weathered wood and rusty iron at Dungeness

Dark clouds and rays of sun over Invalides in Paris, France.

The extreme contrast between the bulidings and the sky always gives me trouble... this one was no different...

I used a handheld autobracket, the darkest of the bracket really caught the clouds beautifully, but was soo dark on the buildings that the blending of it with the lighter layers was too much. Plus, when i took the photos, my espresso fueled body was not up to holding very still, and the wobble from the 1st frame of the bracket to the last was very noticible, and it was a circular wobble... tough to fix.

I ended up only using 2 of the darkest frames from the autobracket, and adjustment layers to bring out the colors in the foreground.

Wikipedia:

Les Invalides in Paris, France, is a complex of buildings in the city's 7th arrondissement containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building's original purpose. The buildings house the Musée de l'Armée, the military museum of the Army of France, the Musée des Plans-Reliefs, and the Musée d'Histoire Contemporaine, as well as the burial site for some of France's war heroes, notably Napoleon Bonaparte.

Sunlight on the way up the Great Smoky Mountain National Park shines through the trees. The Mr was focused on making it to New Found Gap at the top and making absolutely no stops, so The Mrs had to shoot quick on the way while hanging out the window (story of her life). Do you ever have trips that you shoot out the window while moving on to the next destination?

Sunlight streaming through a juice glass, turned upside down to suggest an exclamation point!!

The bright sun was already on its way to set behind the soft hills in the Welsh landscape but before it paited the scenery in a touch of green and yellow shades. Even the vapour trail of a plane showed the same colour.

Window Wednesday

I thought the light shining through the blind on the roses was so pretty.

People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

In the quiet morning's glow,

Through the city streets she goes,

A woman draped in shadow's grace,

Avoiding sunlight's warm embrace.
