...I bought this in honor of my beloved maternal grandmother, who has had one just like it in her kitchen window all my life, and has pointed rainbows out to me since I was little.

Also featured, in blur, are a lemon seedling, an air fern, a wine bottle with colored water in it, and a kalanchoe.

Finished grouting this tonight too. It will look better in the daytime, but I'll try a better picture later.

Good night. Going to watch Idol...

The body of this dragonfly is crafted from streaky purple iridescent glass. The wings are made from grape colored waterglass. The bottom wings lay over the top wings to give it dimension. This suncatcher is assembled with lead came and solder. This piece features a 32% lead crystal prism hanging from the bottom.

Suncatcher measures 8 3/8" long by 7 1/8" wide.

Another one~~I redesigned it to be somewhat to be more symmetrical, but not identical on both sides.

I created this linear beaded hanging from copper wire and an eclectic mixture of glass beads. These brightly-coloured beads have been arranged in the colours of the rainbow, going downwards from red to purple. The beads loop together with repurposed chain and twists of wire, and there are also three wire hearts along the length of this piece. All this hangs from a loop of wrapped copper wire.

This suncatcher measures 68cm (27") long. It could be hung by a window to catch the sunlight, or in any plain corner of your home to add colour and a little quirky, colourful handmade style.

Thank you for taking the time to view this piece.

Melted bead suncatchers! This one has tinfoil embedded in it to make a pretty snowflake design.

This afternoon, as I was sitting, reflecting on my day, I realized I was staring at this suncatcher that hangs in the window behind my desk.

I sometimes forget that it is there but today, as I was pondering (and feeling a little down about) some of the usual challenges that young ones can have at the start of the new school year, it caught my eye.

This suncatcher originally spent a few years hanging in my youngest daughter's bedroom and when she decided that it no longer suited the 'look' that she wanted, I gave it a new home, in the classroom.

Initially, it was purely for decoration but it wasn't long before it took on special significance. Over the last few years, my classes have been known as the 'Gems' and our vision for the year has centered around being the 'stars that we are', to do our best, share our gifts and talents... sparkle, shine...learn to be!

So perhaps today, it caught my eye for a reason. It reminded me, that the 25 students in my class this year, are like stars, just finding their light in an early evening sky. At the moment, they're still finding their way, settling into routines, a little overwhelmed by new challenges, like stars outdazzled by the sun in the sky at dusk. But just as those same stars start to truly twinkle as the sun sets, so too will my 'Gems'. Before I know it, they will have settled in to the year and be dazzling me with the 'Stars that they are'!

Goodies I received from Nixiebum in the Craftster Vintage Halloween Swap. Blogged here: lisasteatime.blogspot.com/2013/10/vintage-halloween-swap....

This skully suncatcher has been created from copper wire and a mixture of red glass beads and grey plastic skull beads. It has been created in eight sections, so that each piece moves individually. The last of these sections is in the shape of a heart at the end.

This piece measures 30cm (just under 12") long. It could be hung by a window, or perhaps on a wall, or would also look great as part of your Halloween decorations.

Thank you for taking the time to view this suncatcher.

This sculptural beaded suncatcher features three hearts in gradually decreasing sizes. I created this piece from copper wire and an eclectic mixture of green glass beads. I've also used steel chain repurposed from a necklace, and a ring repurposed from a keyring (which I have passed through a flame to give it a similar golden colour to that of the chain).

This suncatcher measures 27cm (10.5") long from the top of the hanging loop to the bottom of the largest heart, and 9cm (3.5") at its widest part. It could be hung by a window to catch the sunlight, or in any plain corner of your home to add colour and a little quirky, handmade style.

Thank you for taking the time to view this suncatcher.

I love the way this photo turned out--it was close to sunset and what little bit of sun was still left was coming directly through the piece giving it some extra sparkle.

These 3-D Tree Of Life Agate Slabs look great as a suncatcher hanging on the porch, over a window, on the wall or adorning your favorite shelf. You can even place a tealight candle (preferably the flameless flicker effect kind) on the back of the stand, dim the lights some and you have a marvelously mysterious effect!

Mum's Chrysanthemum Mum used to grow the most beautiful Chyrissies, so this reminds me of her and the beautiful blooms that she entered in the local flower shows.

Above is my interpretation of a thistle. I created it from steel wire and a selection of glass beads. The longest point at the top of the purple part can act as a loop to hang this piece from.

This suncatcher was created for the UK Etsy Challenge group. This month's theme was "Countries". I chose Scotland as my inspiration, as both my parents are Scottish, as are most of my extended family. I chose a thistle, as this flower is one of the symbols of Scotland.

I used a glass called Waterglass which is lightly textured resembling water on a lake's surface. It's pretty groovy.
