I just had to pick up this sun catcher when I spied it on the shelf at the local thrift shop for just a buck.
I've been trying to refrain from buying anymore cat chachkies...heaven knows I have too many now.....but couldn't resist this one! It looks great hanging in my kitchen window, and the cat reminds me of Sally. 8-)
Show your support for the team this summer with this beaded ornament, a heart-shaped, beaded representation of the English flag. It could be displayed with your other World Cup memorabilia, or simply hung in your window for an alternative way to show your English pride.
I created this suncatcher from stainless steel wire and an eclectic mixture of glass beads in shades of red and white. It measures 8cm (just over 3") wide, and is just under 8cm (3") high. This heart hangs from a loop of clear plastic thread, allowing it to be displayed by a window, or in any corner of your home, to catch the sunlight and to add a bit of colour and patriotic, yet girlie, style.
Thank you for taking the time to view this heart.

More exciting weather for us Oklahomans. Parts of Oklahoma City saw some flooding that made travel difficult. It took my Mom an hour to get to work. We didn't see any flooding in my neck of Oklahoma, but we did get a lot of rain and are expected to get more today with the chance of our own flooding this afternoon. (Something to look forward to.) Needless to say, i didn't feel like being washed away in the rain yesterday, so I stayed indoors and took pictures of this pretty suncatcher my son made at school. I'm not 100% happy with the end product, but at least I got my picture for the day.

I created this heart-shaped suncatcher from stainless steel wire and an eclectic mixture of glass beads in varying translucent shades. These beads make a rainbow on their way from left to right. This heart hangs from a length of pink ribbon.
This suncatcher measures approximately 9.5cm (just under 4") high, and is approximately 9.5cm (just under 4") wide. Hang it by a window to catch the sunlight, or in any corner of your home to add a little quirky, colourful style.

My first glass on glass, my first pentagonal frame and my first suncatcher.
The flower is purple striped agate, which looks glorious with the light behind it! The centre is amethyst and the rest is millefiori and stained glass. The hanger has violet jade, amethyst and seed beads.
Measures 29cm
This is a hand crochet suncatcher done in white thread and gold glass seedbeads. It is attached to an 8 inch diameter gold tone ring and has a white ribbon for hanging in a sunny window. It will even cheer you on a snowy day. I can make them with any color of beads if you are interested.
When I was very small, we once went to the local art gallery. Among many other works of art there was one of Yves Klein's blue canvases on display. My mom stood in front of it, and I remember asking her "Why are you staring at this? Its just blue. Its stupid!" My opinion hasn't changed all that much in the meantime... but here's the thing: That's the only piece of art I remember from that outing! The only one! And what's more, I certainly like making monochrome mosaics, this isn't the first one I've made by a long shot.
My mosaic version of this work of art probably shows how little I understand it: blue glass. Its all blue, just like the original, right? Oh hey, no look, there are twirly bits! There are glittery, and iridescent bits! Chunky bits and lots of grout lines! You can hold it against the light and its partially transparent! And oh no, there's even a frame round it, what on earth was she thinking?
Improving on the original or making a complete shambles of it? I don't know... you tell me.
I've taken a very nice lidded jar made of heavy glass and added pieces of art glass and iridescent glass gems. The art glass is a assortment of textured, iridescent, marbled and opaque varieties. Surrounding the glass and gems is black polymer clay. Once the clay was cured, I painted it with a variety of metallic paints in antique gold, jade, emerald and gold leaf.
The jar weighs nearly 3lbs and measures 4.75" square and 5" tall.
A suncatcher utilising mostly vintage goodies from damaged jewelry ( Swarovski links, acrylic prisms, pink discs and more ), along with a few modern bits too. I've even added collaged wood discs with vintage papers.
The focal pendant can be removed and used as a necklace pendant too !

This piece is crafted from white iridescent glass that changes color depending on the angle it's viewed from. The surface colors are pink, purple, green, peach, and a hint of blue. I made the trees from tinned copper wire. I added faceted glass iridescent beads to some of the limbs to look like ice crystals. The back of this suncatcher/wall decor is solid white. This piece looks best against a wall and the colors will look different depending on your wall color.
This piece measures 7 1/4" long, by 6 3/8" wide.
I created this linear beaded hanging from steel wire (wire which has a much warmer, golden tone than is normally seen in steel) and an eclectic mixture of glass beads. These brightly-coloured beads have been arranged in the colours of the rainbow, going downwards from red to purple. The beads loop together with repurposed chain and twists of wire, and there are also three wire hearts along the length of this piece. The hanging loop of this suncatcher is a ring repurposed from a keyring, which I have passed through a flame to give it a similar golden colour to that of the wire and chain.
This suncatcher measures 52cm (20.5") long. It could be hung by a window to catch the sunlight, or in any plain corner of your home to add colour and a little quirky, colourful handmade style.
Thank you for taking the time to view this piece.
This suncatcher was sold at a craft fair on 06/06/09
easy project using glass beads of any size, color or shape. Here I used medium to large size transparent chunky glass beads from our mixed bead selection

Stained Glass Suncatcher
Title: "Geisha in Doorway"
Dimensions: 16" DIAMETER RING
Description:
I really think this is a stunning piece of stained glass work!!!
It is, in fact, very simple, with an Asian theme of a Geisha entering a room though a doorway.
The colors and texture of the glass used are just gorgeous together!
As simple as it may look, there was actually hours of work on it, with many small pieces of glass to cut.
It almost has a kind of "ZEN" feeling to it :)
Lovely piece that I feel grows on you more and more as you look at it and feel its message of calmness and serenity.
By the way, her face is white, although it looks rather dark in the pics.
NOTE:
You may notice that there are light 'scratches' on the blue glass to the left of the Geisha's head. They are not cracks, simply surface scratches. I actually like the added interest and texture they add to the glass... to me it seems that in that beautiful sky, nothing is totally perfect...

Look my newly made suncatcher on the top already caught the sun, way to go:) These are all most all Swarovski crystals, I love making them, love shiny bling!
Some sun, this afternoon. ISO100, super wide lens, f29 and flash to light the hand. Sun a bit bright for this shot though, better done nearer sunset.
This is an old computer disc that I have repurposed into a new life as a suncatcher. One of my favorite color combos. I saw these beautiful iridescent green and purple beads at the the craft store and knew I had to make a suncatcher to match. I covered one side with polymer clay. After curing and sanding I drilled some holes and added the crystals and beads for extra sparkle. CD's make great suncatchers with their reflective film. They give off wonderful rainbows when light shines on them. These can be used indoors or out.
