Soft peach Damask Rose.

Hills District, north-western Sydney.
For centuries, the Damask rose has symbolized beauty and love. The fragrance of the rose has been captured and preserved in the form of rose water by a method that can be traced to ancient times in the Middle East and later to the Indian subcontinent.

This is one of my tulips and I like that vibrant red colour which looked even more vibrant in the backlight. I don't have many tulips in my garden and every Spring I think that I should have planted some more in Autumn.

Macro Mondays - theme: imperfect
This faceted crystal sun-catcher was a gift from my father. It's already a bit worse for wear after all those years, with a chipped edge (or two) and a lot of micro scratches. But it still refracts the light beautifully ...
taken with the manual Laowa 60mm ultra macro lens @ about f4
width of this frame (on the long side): about 3.5 cm at max
Happy Macro Monday !
I will be catching up tonight
Physalis alkekengi also known as the Chinese Lantern Plant, is grown mainly for ornamental use but the red berry inside the skeletal "cage" is actually edible. The rest of the plant is poisonous, a trait it shares with the tomato which also has poisonous leaves and stalks but is rich in vitamin C. The Physalis berry is even richer in vitamin C than the tomato, the orange and the lemon. ................ I took two shots. The other is sharper and technically better but I liked the light more in this one.

(here: something that was given to me by my father)
This faceted crystal sun-catcher was a gift from my father. If I remember correctly, he brought it with him from an inpatient rehab stay.
It's already a bit worse for wear after all those years, with a chipped edge (or two) and a lot of micro scratches. But it still refracts the light beautifully ... it hangs on the balcony door of my study. A lovely memento ♡
... shine on !
( the whole suncatcher is just under 4 cm in diameter )
Happy Macro Mondays, everyone !

I bought some tulips at the supermarket last week to bring a little bit of spring into my home and thought I should take a photo before they start losing their petals. :)
This is one of the tulips in my garden. The photo was taken before winter returned with snow and cold temperatures. I hope that at least some of the tulips which are still supposed to flower survived the cold spell, especially as I did whatever I could to protect them.

One benefit of our new home is the wonderful clear view to the west, making it great for catching some great sunsets.
Der Sonnen Fänger steht in Haffkrug an der Ostsee. Eigentlich stellt diese Statue einen Fischer dar, aber die Sonne stand günstig und erlaubt heute bei Sonnenaufgang diesen Schnappschuss
The cozy and rural ambiance portrayed in this setting owes much to the LouChara Isla Daybed Collection, inclusive of the day bed, rugs, candles, shelf, and wall art. This collection is available at their primary store, located at: maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Tropical%20Bay/140/173/4002

if there's anything that I've missed, just ask!
Two tulips just reaching into a sunbeam.
Taken in a local village garden here in sunny Mount Gambier.
We're starting today a little more cautiously, if one can even speak of caution given all the natural beauty that surrounds us.
But at least the protagonists are of the more reserved variety. These aren't epic landscapes or historic castles, but simply a group of young birch trees in winter dress on a rocky plateau in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
And until a few minutes ago, I hadn't even thought about taking a photo of them. But then the morning sun climbed over the ridge of the Schrammstein cliffs in the background and caught the branches of one of these birch trees.
And suddenly, the scene was filled with life and warmth and definitely worth capturing in a photograph.
